The reason behind the sudden decision is the fact that Gia broke the norms of her contract with Star Plus as soon as she entered Colors's dance reality show Jhalak Dhikhla Jaa.

As per our sources, "Gia was strictly asked not to join the rival GEC but the actress gave it a deaf ear. Now, the channel has immediately discontinued her as the lead of their show. It was clearly mentioned in the contract that any actor working with the channel cannot breach their contract."

Commenting on the entire episode, Star Plus spokesperson said, "Saath Nibhana Saathiya will see a new face essaying the role of 'Gopi Bahu', the lead protagonist of the show, which has been so far played by Gia since its launch. The association with Gia has however, been discontinued with immediate effect, due to unprofessional conduct and breach of contract from the actor's side. "
