Monday's episode was a perfect extension of Friday's with the consequences of the impassioned faceoff between MM, displayed clearly in both of their behaviours and attitudes. We got to see Megha's raging self-denial reflecting in the disorientation of her thoughts, her anger and act of suppressing her inner thoughts. Megha's talking to her own reflection depicted wit clarity, the war between a conscious self who chooses to lie and a subconscious mind that knows the truth.
I do feel like applauding NBT Writers and CVs for developing and simulating a character like Megha. They have done a brilliant job of creating their heroine to walk the edge of likability. Megha's flaws are all too real, and that means there are lots of instances in the show, in which we do not like her. Just like in real life too, flaws are seldom minor and even our greatest strengths are likely to become weaknesses under some circumstances. The same strong will, fortitude and perseverance that helped Megha survive the deadly blow of Amar's death with the insinuations that followed. That same perseverance has also made her a self-denying, love-phobic person whose backbone is unwilling to give way under even extreme duress. All that above is what makes her character a real work of genius because such deep-seated character flaws we get to experience only in real life people mostly, very seldom on tv.
So Monday we got to see Megha on a journey of self-discovery, where it actually dawned on her, for the first time that she has the ability to love Mohan, instead of only Amar, Mohan who is different and feels different and it understandably proved very jarring to her. The thought and idea of herself loving Mohan left her disoriented and in dire need of a map. Well Megha sweetheart, that's okay too and we have been waiting for it to happen. Mohan hai naa guidance ke liye! Just ask your new love for directionsđ
All signs of profound but hidden love, that we got to see in Mohan's journey towards love, are now showing in Megha.
1) Friday, she kept smiling like an idiot at the absurd jokes Mohan cracked or the way he behaved, throughout that all-family dinner-date. It distracted her pointless, she even caught herself red-handed too, leaving her with no way out of that moment.
2) Mohan is occupying her thoughts to a large extent nowadays, thoughts both happy or otherwise. So much so that it leaves her unable to concentrate on any random task at hand.
3) She's always concerned about him, consciously or subconsciously. So she poured kaadha in two cups instead of one because of course "piya jee ko thand lagi hai"
4) Megha is what she actually is, with Mohan. Instead of the prim proper, obliging, polite, stern and supervising widow and daughter in law that she is expected to live up to now, with Mohan, all those pretenses evaporate leaving her revelling in her own skin, which is vibrant and carefree, daring. That's what made the farmhouse and fake wife drama possible.
5) We have seen her criticizing Mohan to his face always but since Bhopal trip and the truth revelation, she doesn't seem to bear anyone criticizing Mohan, very well. Be it Renu or Papa ji, any criticism of Mohan leaves her unhappy and sometimes even provokes her to speak up.
Well, for her, it's a long way to go still before reaching that specific stop in this voyage where the prospect of losing Mohan makes her aware of his value that she's been denying. Let this (or any other thing too) be her cue to let him know of her discovery, and to begin showing her affection.
Life is not complex. We are complex. Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing." Oscar Wilde.
Nanhi's lines on Monday â
"Mummy monsoon start ho gaya naa, yeh first bearish thhi, thodi si hui per buhat zor se hui thhi, Hai naa? Baarish mein bheegney mein apko bara maza aya ho ga na"
&
"DEkha mummy, jo mann mein ghussa rakhta hai na, usko aise hee cheenk aati hai"
Reminded me so much of the above quote. Simplicity and truth, is sometimes elusive, but almost always present. Sometimes we just need to know where to look for it, or how to look.
Now even if Megha manages to put a million miles between herself and Mohan, his essence will always be right with her in the form of Nanhi. From Mohan she can definitely run away, but she can't do the same with Nanhi. Nanhi embodies all that which Megha is blatantly refusing to come to terms with, which of course leaves her befuddled and furious, and God save anyone who dares venture in her path at such a moment. It's only Nanhi who has enough pluck and perseverance (thanks to her maternal side of genes) to stand up for what she considers right. You rock Nanhi, go go!
She did the same with dear Monu, boldly coming up with â
"Tumhari aur Mummy ki katti hui hai kia?"
Aww Nanhi, kash tumhey pata chalta ke kitni "zor se" katti hui donon bachon ki đ Sach mein, cutie pie Monu ko buhat zor se lagi woh kattiđ zalim Megha! đĄ Poor Mohan, had to take out all the angst, frustration on books and clothes. Even some living beings, Maa and dearest Guru also came under intense fire đOnly if Megha knew what all they had to and Mohan has to go through because of her stubbornness đ Really felt my heart break for him in that moment when he started crying, willing himself to be strong enough inside, because he knows that such suffering is all that he has to be content with for now.
