Top T-Town stars will shake a leg at Charan and Upasna's sangeet on June 11

The dates are finalised. And Hyderabad is all set for the biggest wedding of the year. Actor Ram Charan Tej and Apollo heiress Upasna Kamineni will kickstart their wedding celebrations with a grand sangeet to be held on June 11.
According to a source close to both the families, the grand affair will be hosted at Annapoorna Studios and the entire Tollywood fraternity will be in attendance. What's more. We can expect some filmi-style celebrations at the event. "Allu Arjun, Shriya Saran and Tamannaah are some of the names who are said to be performing at Charan and Upasna's sangeet." We also hear that comedian Ali may dance to the popular "Kajra Re" song at the sangeet. "Ali performed to the song at the wedding of Chiranjeevi's older daughter a few years ago and it was the talk of the town then. Chiranjeevi now wants him to do an encore at his son's sangeet too," adds the source.
The day after, on June 12, both families will be travelling to Domakonda to perform a puja. "Domakonda is the Kaminenis' native place and before any big occasion, they consider it auspicious to visit the Mutyalamma Temple to take the blessings of their family goddess," added the source.
The pellikoothuru ceremony will take place on the morning of June 13 at Upasna's Hyderabad residence. "On the same evening, the Apollo family is hosting dinner for the guests. June 14 is the wedding day. The ceremony will be held at the bride's house itself and the guest list will be confirmed in a couple of days," revealed the source.
Both the families have already dispatched the wedding invitations to their close friends and family.

'I feel like I've known him for 400 years'

Upasana Kamineni dishes on her wedding to Ram Charan Teja in an exclusive chat with BT

South star Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja rose to fame with Magadheera in 2009. The 27-year-old, who will soon make his B-Town debut with the Zanjeer remake, is tying the knot with fiance Upasana Kamineni (granddaughter of Prathap Reddy, the MD of one of the country's leading pharma companies) on June 14. They got engaged in a private ceremony on December 1 last year, but the wedding promises to be a grand one with top politicians, business barons, actors and socialites from all over the world descending in Hyderabad. Here's a freewheeling chat with the bride-to-be.
How did you meet Charan?
We were introduced through common friends. I was in the US studying, and we would meet when I would come to India for vacations. Over time, we become friends. I feel like I've known him from many janams, like 400 years, and the people of the state believe it too, just like in his movie Magadheera!
Tell us about the wedding proposal.
He proposed to me on my birthday (July 20) last year. I love surprises, and that was the best one. He surprises me on my birthday every year. I am waiting to see what he has in store for me this year!
How elaborate are the wedding preparations?
Our family members are looking after all the details. The guestlist is huge, as there are people travelling from all over the world to attend the wedding. I am quite hands-on and am making sure that the wedding is how we want it to be. Tarun Tahiliani, who is a close family friend, dressed me for the engagement ceremony and is also designing both our wedding outfits.
Have you have drawn inspiration from the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton?
Well, yes, the inspiration is to have a personal touch. The wedding is not just for us, but for the entire state and the people. Both Charan and I have been involved in various charitable trusts and activities, and we are doing various things like feeding 3,000 underprivileged people, and donating money to organisations that take care of the needy.
You're having a special ceremony at an ancestral fort?
Yes, we are having a special puja and an elaborate religious ceremony at the Domakonda fort, which is our ancestral fort in Telangana. We have invited around 300 villagers to participate, and will distribute saris to all the villagers present during the rituals.
What plans for the honeymoon?
Well, that's hopefully going to be Charan's surprise for me after the wedding! We haven't decided the place, but we plan to take off for two or three days.
