It was Muzaffar's first liaison with the camera. After doing just one more film, he retired to a quiet life of designing, poetry and paintings. Now buzz is that Rekha might actually do a cameo in a sequel that is being planned to the original film.

Latest is that Muzaffar wants to make a comeback to Bollywood and has asked his friend and screenplay writer of the original Umrao Jaan, Javed Siddiqui to write the sequel and the screenplay for him.

Siddiqui tells HitList, "Yes, I'm working on a script for Muzaffar saab and we will be working together after 30 years. The film is very much on the lines of a sequel to Umrao Jaan." There is strong buzz that the makers are trying very hard to get Rekha to be a part of the cast.
