'I am not looking at marriage at all'

Marriage is just a mere formality, Kareena Kapoor tells us.
"I would like to state for the record that as of today I have no work - no new films to do!"declares a triumphant Kareena Kapoor, who seems to be relishing every minute of her 'jobless' status. "I am finally getting to do the things I have always wanted to do. In my initial years in the industry, I pushed myself to do a lot of work because I was greedy. I did some films - which I now regret - purely for the money. Today, I want to do selective films,"she says.
So, to what lengths is Kareena willing to go to sink her teeth into a meaty role? "I love taking risks,"admits the 25-year-old. "I would even go bald like Natalie Portman did in V for Vendetta, provided I get such a film. If anyone knows of any good scripts, please send them over!"
Though most of her contemporaries like Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra are gravitating Westward, Kareena says that Hollywood isn't for her.
"I like to be the best that I can be and only Bollywood offers me that opportunity,"she says. "Why go there when I know that I will never be a Julia Roberts? Actors who think that they will make it big in Hollywood are delusional. They will never be given the same status as a top star there. I'd rather do my own thing and enjoy life here to the fullest."
Planning her month-long backpacking trip to Europe with friends next month and spending quality time with sister Karisma and niece Samaira is what keeps her busy today.
"I am completely obsessed with Karisma and have to spend at least four to five hours with her when she is in Mumbai,"says Kareena. "If Karisma is hurting I hurt as well. We are that bound by limitless love."
So where does Shahid fit into this 'exile-like' status? "My fans and the media seem to know more about Shahid and me than I do. The best part of our relationship is that we know when to give one another space. Although I am possessive of Shahid off camera, when it comes to his films, he can do as he pleases."
The one question she says that "totally freaks her out,"is: When is she planning to get married? "I am not looking at marriage at all,"she says pointedly.
So, is this cynicism on her part a result of seeing marriages around her crumble before her eyes? "I am quite a selfish person at this moment in my life. I feel one needs to give one's all to a marriage. And besides, I think marriage is just a mere formality,"she shrugs.
Six years in the industry has brought immense maturity to her persona, says Kareena. "I was always very self-confident, which people often mistook as brashness. But on a lighter note, I miss people making those 'anti Kareena' comments. Why isn't anybody doing that anymore?"she asks, her cognac eyes ablaze with that typical Kareena Kapoor glare ready to set the world on fire!
