Keeping fit is not about staying slim, says Sonia Kapuur

Sonia currently has two shows on air, Piya Ka Ghar and Remix on Star One. She will now be seen in Gautam Adhikari's next thriller where she plays a undercover cop. Sonia has many good projects to her credit in the past like Aurat , Devta , Zanjeerein , Neeyat , Lakeerein , Heena .

In an exclusive interview with Shaaditimes, Sonia shares the secret of her well-toned body.

No rice, no rotis during week days
When I think of food I think of only healthy nutritive food. I eat to live. Monday to Friday I have only protein rich food and on Saturday and Sunday I have carbs. After I wake up in the morning I have seasonal fruit juice. For breakfast I have 3 egg whites, 1 brown bread and some fruits. Before lunch if I am hungry, I have a papaya or an apple. Lunch is always simple, a bowl full of dal , lots of salad, 2 pieces of chicken, some sabji . I usually carry my dabba on the set, but if at all I don't have my dabba I have only the sabji from the food served on the set. I don't have rice or rotis during the week. Even on weekends I have very little rice. Evening if I feel hungry I snack on popcorns or bhel , or sprouts which has lots of nutritional values and proteins. For dinner I only have 2 or 3 pieces of tandoori chicken with a bowl full of curd.

I have just started developing a sweet tooth. Before I never liked sweets so much. Even my tea is without sugar.

I enjoy a buffet
I eat out twice or thrice a week. I enjoy a buffet at J W Marriott once in six months. I like to eat out at Chawla's Dhabba and Legacy of China. My favourite cuisine is North Indian food. I know to cook, but I hardly cook because I don't get time.

I don't diet
I go to the gym everyday and work out for 45 minutes to 1 hour only. One should not work out for more than an hour. I do weight training and cardio on alternate days. If I am really stressed out or tired I skip going to the gym and rest. I am thinking of starting meditation and yoga , but the problem is lack of time. I am a health freak but I don't diet as such. I just believe in eating right.

Extra care
For my skin I have vitamin C. I have blemishes on my face. I consulted lots of dermatologists but nothing worked. The only thing I know now, is to take care of my skin naturally by drinking lots of water and having lots of green leafy vegetables. I go to the parlour for regular clean ups and facials. I don't get any special treatment done on my face.
For my hair, I don't do much. I oil my hair only once a month.

My word
Now-a-days it's a trend to look lean, but I would like to advice the readers not to starve themselves to become slim. Keeping fit is not about staying slim. Exercise and remain active. Eat right and be happy. Consult a dietitian if required, but please don't starve to reduce weight.

Filmi romantic dinner with Sanju Baba
I would love to go on a dinner date with Sanjay Dutt. A filmi romantic dinner to a quiet place, with soft music and candles lit everywhere. Have some good food and just talk and talk. I am sure Sanju has lots to talk.
