Part 8
"Aaahhh...!!" Khushi says, throwing herself on the bed. "Wow...!! This bed is so soft and bouncy.." Khushi sits on the bed, and jumps up and down.
"Chutki..!!" Payal scolds Khushi, but in a loving way.
"Oh. Sorry Jiji." Khushi sits up straight against the headboard, and hugs a pillow. "Hey, Jiji... What do you think of Akash ji?"
Payal blushes, but gives Khushi an answering opposing her facial expressions. Khushi understands what Payal truly means though. "Oh, Chutki... He is a nice guy. Good looking too..."
"Good looking, huh? So you like him?" Khushi teases Payal.
"Akash ji is a nice guy, like I said. Who wouldn't like him?" Payal blushes harder.
"Oh so you like him..." Khushi continues the teasing, this time wagging her eyebrows in a funny way.
"What...??!!! No. Not in the way you're thinking Khushi."
"Don't lie, Jiji. You like him. You really, really like him!"
"No, I don't...!!"
Payal denies her feelings for Akash, but her protests fall on deaf ears, as Khushi ups the teasing by singing her (Payal's) favourite song... "Kuch toh hua hai, kuch ho gaya gai... Kuch toh hua hai, kuch ho gaya hai... Do-chaar din se, lagta hai jaise... Sab kuch alag hai, sab kuch naya hai... Kuch toh hua hai, kuch ho gaya hai..."
Payal picks up a nearby pillow and hits Khushi with it. Khushi hits back, and both the sisters have a fun moment.

Meanwhile, Arnav is out on the terrace area of the beach-side bungalow, trying to get a signal on his Blackberry. "What the...!! This stupid signal... Aah, ok here it is." Arnav finally manages to get a signal near the ledge of the terrace, a relief for him since the incoming storm was probably making it worse.
"Oh crappp...!!" The signal gets cut. Arnav looks up at the sky and sees the grey clouds closing in quickly. He manages to make it back into the safety of the house, but is surprised when Khushi appears before him.
Arnav is surprised when Khushi doesn't notice him and is about to scold her for that, but doesn't. Khushi rushes past Arnav, and dragging Maanvi along with her, begins dancing in the middle of the terrace in the rain.
Arnav seems sort of mesmerized to see this new, innocent side of Khushi rather than the irritating and annoying one he confronts in office nearly everyday. Arnav smiles a rather small as he does down the stairs but stops when he sees Virat - who is also heading to the terrace to find Maanvi - looking at him with a quizzical look on his face.
*************************
After a while, the rain stops and everyone decides to go out to the beach and swim for a while. Fortunately for Maanvi and Khushi, who got wet in the rain, they had their swimsuits on under their clothes. So they just peel of their already wet clothes and jump into the water, excited.
The guys soon follow, and so do Akash and Payal. There occurs a moment in the fun where Payal hits her foot on a hard and sharp stone in the water and Akash gets worried for her. He rushes over to her and enquires if he is okay, then he helps her walk to the water's edge and sits her down on the sand, with the waves just reaching up to her feet.
Khushi smiles when she sees this, and begins to think to herself how her prediction is coming to be true. Like Payal and Akash, Maanvi and Virat, and Yash and Aarti too have their own romantic moment.
Aman and Peter on the other hand, look at the happy couples with big frown on their faces. They then see a single Khushi standing a little away from the couples and smile, and try to swim over as fast as possible to get to her.
*************************
While the 10 of them, including Arnav who is furiously typing away an email to some clients before their long break, are enjoying themselves, poor Lavanya is suffering in a village called Harsawa near the Thar Desert, where she somehow landed up to ask for directions, according to the misleading by Khushi.
The kids from Harsawa have crowded around Miss Lavanya Namoona Kashyap, whom they have nicknamed "Shehari Namoona". The nickname came about entirely by coincidence when, as soon as entering the village, Lavanya tripped in her high heels and fell face-first into some gobar (cow dung) left there by the village cows. The kids laughed at her as she started crying at her fate.
And even now, as Lavanya is in the middle of washing the gobar off her face, using the water she has to pump out from a handpump, the kids continue to laugh at her. Poor girl doesn't realise that she has bent too much from the hips, causing her short dress to slide higher up her thighs, exposing a little bit of her underwear - which has pictures of Tom & Jerry printed on it.
Then suddenly, the water stops coming out from the handpump, and Lavanya screams in anguish. The village kids continue to laugh at her expense. "Arrrnav, where are you?" she says to herself.
*************************
The 10 of them in Goa, minus Arnav of course, finally decide to get out of the sea as the sun sets and the sky turns dark. Khushi walks up to Maanvi and starts chatting with her, which upsets loverboy Virat, who wants to talk to her as well.
So, Virat gets annoyed with Khushi and says something to annoy her back. Somehow, this all leads up to Virat and Khushi challenging each other to a race back to the bungalow. The one who loses will pay for the dinner (for all 10 of them) that night.
Maanvi is supposed to do the '3, 2, 1' countdown, and just before she does, Khushi looks back at her and winks. Maanvi does. And when she calls out "3, 2, 1, GO...!!!!" she also adds "Oh, Virat..." in a seductive tone.
The rest of them laugh at loverboy Virat as he stops and turns back to Maanvi, who acts innocent. "Did you call me, Maanvi?" Virat asks her.
"No, I didn't." Maanvi replies, when she actually did, causing the rest of the crowd to snigger and as Khushi races way way ahead of Virat.
"Oh, crap... Khushi...!!!" Virat grunts, and tries to race back to Peter's beach house and reach before Khushi, but is unsuccessful.
*************************
Arnav has been roaming around the patio of the beach house this time, again trying to find a signal on his Blackberry. He can't go back inside the house as his voice echoes back, causing much more disturbance, and he can't go up to the terrace because there is no light there.
"What the...!!!" Arnav stares down at his clothes and finds them wet. He then looks up and sees Khushi, who had just bumped into him. "Khushi Kumari Gupta!!! Can't you see where you're going? And why are you wet?"
"Oh well... I was swimming with the rest of them. And Virat challenged me to race him to the beach house first..."
"What the...!!!" Arnav is astonished at Khushi's reply, and stares at her with an open-mouth. "What are you - five?"
"No. I'm 22, so of course, not a kid anymore. But sometimes we adults need to relive our childhood and relief our stress this way. Chillax, Arnav sir. Change your clothes and you'll be dry. You're only wet, not dead." Khushi tells Arnav to relax.
Her words make Arnav's mouth hang open even wider, but he closes it soon when Virat comes running up to the beach house. "Khushi... You're dead..." Virat starts off, but stops when he sees Arnav standing there. "Oh, sorry... Arnav why are you wet?"
"Khushi crashed into me." Arnav answers.
Virat smiles when Arnav says this. He is secretly hoping that Arnav will scold Khushi, which will in turn make him happy, because Khushi 'cheated' and won the race back to the beach house.
However, Arnav doesn't scold Khushi. "I need to go and change." And that's all Arnav says as he heads back into the beach house and walks up the stairs to the room he is sharing with Akash.
Now, it's Virat's turn to stare at Arnav's retreating back with an astonished look on his face. The rest of people soon come up. Maanvi looks quizzically at Virat's expression then looks at Khushi to help clear her confusion. Khushi just shrugs her shoulders.
*************************
Later in the night, everyone has dinner which Virat pays for, though rather happily, at Khushi's apology and Maanvi's request. No one can be angry at Khushi for long, not even Virat - who fights with her often, but is her closest male friend after Akash.
After dinner, everyone heads back to the beach house to relax for a little while, then walks over to a nearby church for the Christmas (Eve) Midnight Mass. Yash, Aarti, Maanvi, Virat, Akash, Payal, Peter, and Aman find a place somewhere at the middle, while Khushi sits next to Arnav in the last row from the alter, at the other end of the church.
During the mass, Khushi falls asleep for a few minutes and her head comes to rest on Arnav's shoulder. Arnav tries to lift up her head, but just can't seem to wake her up. With the only light source in the church being the very dimmed ones overhead and the candles way in front at the alter, Arnav sees Khushi 'in a different light'.
When Khushi wakes up after a few minutes, she pretends that nothing happened, and so does Arnav. They continue praying in silence, as they look towards the alter in the centre of the church.
During the walk back home, the couples are talking to each other, while Khushi, Peter and Aman are engaged in planning activities for the next day. Arnav walks a little behind all of them, as he converses with his New York client in an emergency call.
The call ends and Arnav concentrates in walking back in the dark, alone. But his thoughts don't allow him to. Khushi's words keep ringing through his mind. "You're only wet, not dead" says Khushi to him, in his thoughts.
"But even though she is in my thoughts, she has to come and annoy me doesn't she?" Arnav asks himself, as his preoccupation with Khushi makes him overlook the huge stone in front of him, and he trips. "What the...!!! Ouch...!!!!!!" And Khushi is by Arnav's side in a second.
As a limping Arnav is helped by Khushi all the way back to the beach house, he can't help but think how nice and kind she actually is beneath that bubbly and annoying self of hers. That night, is the first night Arnav actually goes to sleep not worried about anything. That night is also the first night Khushi comes into Arnav's dreams...
Precap: Arnav's feelings for Khushi begin to change and grow... Akash finally mucks up some courage and proposes to Payal, with the help of Khushi and the rest (minus Arnav, of course)... The other couples Yash-Aarti and Virat-Maanvi too enjoy some romantic moments of their own... Even Aman and Peter are not left alone - they find some girls...!!!... Everyone is happy, except for Lavanya whose suffering in the Thar Desert continues...
