I found maasaa's division of property formula quite odd = six equal parts.
The traditional way to do it is to divide the property between bhairon and basant equally in half.
Then bhairon can divide his into three - jagya, anandi and suguna
and basant can give his to one - nandu.
Here it is like bhairon's camp gets four cuts and basant's camp gets two cuts.
Ofcourse it is kalyani devi's property and she can do what she wishes. But I just found it odd to divide by six.

I think she is giving equal parts to all including her grand children and her children...Nandu, Basant, Bhairav, Anandi, Jagya, Sugna...That is the way even my grandmother did...! Children and grand children...Doesn't matter how many children each of her child had...!

Tinoo,

You are right. Normally that's howit happens, however a person can divide his property any which way he deems fit, even omitting a beneficiary if they want, or giving it all or part to charity, so there is no fixed rule as such.

In this case I think it's fair in a sense because Basant will still inherit from his biological dad so he is the one who actually benefits more.

I also thinks it is very very progressive of Dadisa to include the daughter/s in the inheritance. In a patriarchal society, this is commendable.

I am not happy with division..if Anandi is getting the share, sugna too...then why not Sumitra and Gehna,...they should be treated respectfully...DS have two beendnees ..last one... DS should have a one share for herself...imagine if she is kicked by all others in future and where she will stay...may be with jaggu dada😭
I think Gauri should demand her share also...if original daughter in law is given a share then parellel daughter in law also desrves one...😆

Jagya might have so many mistress and gauri is one. And gauri is not a legally to related to the family. Yeah she has an eye on their property and to get it she's using jagya... Anandi is jagya's wife and so the daughter in law. But gauri is just a keep and so dont have any rights on the family's property

Yes, even I felt Sumitra and Gehna should be given their individual share. That way the property gets divided into many more parts and Jagya's share becomes that much less. And as it is finally Sumitra and Bhairon will give their share to Anandi and Suguna, that way the property will be among the well-deserving.
If Gauri gets her independent share, she may kick out Jagya from her life. Maybe Dadisa knows this as well.😆

Well yes what you say makes sense esp with Sumitra and Gehan but then i guess its more because she is sure her sons Bhairon and Basanth won't kick their wives or mother out!!! and if you think like that even Varun and Shagun should come in the cound...as her sons son is getting so can the great grand daughter and great grand son!!!!

and of course I think there will be problem Jagya will say he and Nandu are pothas and so the whole property should be divided into only two and he should get a bigger share!!!

@ bold Gauri is the illegal partner if Jagya not parallel daughter in law...after the divorce if Jagya and Gauri marry then probably yes she can be called the daughter in law!!!!

I think anandi is getting property (not gehna & sumitra) because anandi has become daughter of the house (just like jagya, nandu, basant, bahariv)...so, she gets it.
