For once, Shyamala, I'm glad today.😊

I think the problem is - and here again I repeat myself - that we want our heroes to be impossibly perfect, and the minute that they ever SEEM to fall below this gold standard, we despair of them. I have so far not seen any serial hero - though admittedly my experience is this area is limited - who is as gentle, honourable, unselfish and protective in love as Arjun. He might be weak at a critical moment, but that does not negate all the good that we know of him. As Jesus Christ said, let him who has never sinned cast the first stone.

@red: So aptly put. This is one of the reasons why I am not as much on the forum. It is such a turn off.

@blue: Yes and it is all in the hands of CVs. At the end of the day, Arjun is just a character and is being written by the same folks who are writing rest of all the characters.

But today's office scene between Arjun-Purvi was so so good. It was such a small scene but could evoke butterflies in the stomach ..not the tension-kind, but a feel-good one.
In the office environment, a romance going on .. it is all a big no-no when it comes to doing-the-right-things (don't have a word for it), but that scene was so cute and tender. It is so nice to see Arjun being so loving towards Purvi and all the girl has to do is, accept that undying love from him. (of course bcos of the way Purvi is developed as a character). I was watching an old episode of theirs and in that scene, both would've killed each other if they had hatchets in hand and now to see the love they share, they have come a long long way. Just beautiful.

p.s: I know it is a wrong thread to write in, but I can't help, it would be last post for me too unless I have to come back to clarify something. I would rather watch the show and enjoy than come and have discussions.

Dear Bee5,

And I am glad that you are glad.

I too agree that really it is better to watch the show and form one's own opinions than to write out long posts for others to read or not to read; it is rather like a comparison between reading a book and reading critiques of it. But at times the exchanges in the forum are very lively, and these interactions with a group of really interesting people are stimulating. And then there are the serendipitous discoveries: I remember chancing on desi chic's amazingly evocative description of the Arjun-Purvi scene at the airport - that was truly a find! All this perhaps makes the effort worth the while. But I find that now it is becoming something of an addiction, and it cuts into my time for my other, far more serious work - there is only so much time one can spend on a hobby!

This said, I do wish you would reconsider your decision to quit posting. You do not need to write on each and every topic, you can pick those you feel are important. I personally would very much like you to stay in the active community. As for me, I am not going to post any more in defence of Arjun - it is getting to be a tad too much, both for me to type it out and possibly for the others to read it! But I am not dropping out as an active forum member, and I hope to be writing on other subjects concerning PR and the Arjun-Purvi track.

Yes, I agree that Arjun is just a character, but I do NOT think that the Arjun-Purvi track is being written by the same people as do the writing for, say Manav & Archana, or Savita, Sachin, Ovi et al. The characters are too well conceived and drawn, and their lines are far too good for that. But of course the overall story development would be worked out at a higher level, and it is probably here that the damage is done.

Lastly, I too loved the scene in Purvi's office yesterday, and the one were Purvi seeks DK's blessings was also very good. As I wrote to vgiri, " I loved the charming, easy intimacy of the office scene today. From the extremely inhibited Purvi, this level of comfort and demonstrativeness is truly remarkable. It shows, as Jhanvi once wrote so well, that between them now "there is trust, tenderness, and an abiding sense of belonging". I am sure this will survive any and all upheavals.

Incidentally, Arjun seems to be almost continental in his penchant for kissing her hands."

As for the PoA scene, the pride and pleasure in Arjun's face when DK blesses Purvi was delightful to behold. He really seeks a genuine professional partnership with Purvi as his wife, exactly like that between his parents, As I have noted earlier, for such a rich and successful young man, born and brought up in luxury, Arjun seems to have no ego at all where Purvi is concerned. Yesterday, during the phone conversation before Purvi comes to office, he says " You will run this office better than I can". How many men do you think would ever bring themselves to say something like that?

This kind of love, which puts the loved one first, always and every time, is very, very rare. As you have put it so aptly "all the girl has to do is, accept that undying love from him". I very much hope she does just that, whatever might happen to them and wherever the chips might fall.
