Pop Singer Priya To Perform At Masala! Mehndi! Masti!
Toronto, ON, July 6th, 2006 – Pop singer/songwriter Priya is performing at North America's largest free South Asian festival -– Masala! Mehndi! Masti! –- taking place at Toronto's fabulous location of the Canadian National Exhibition. She will hit the Bandshell stage Saturday July 29 @ 7:00pm with her full band, guest artists and perform tracks from her upcoming highly anticipated album set to release later in 2006.
Priya offers a unique blend of Pop and modern R&B highlighted by her soulful vocals. Her sound has been compared to great artists like Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Feist and Esthero. She has been working on her debut album, set to drop in 2006, with Toronto producer Vikas Kohli of FatLabs to hone her distinct sound. This sound has caught the attention of many artists and Priya has just finished a feature with hip hop artist Moka Only (Battleaxe Records) and Indian artist Channi (T-Series Record label). Her debut release "Need You Tonight" has already been picked up across UK and North America and Priya is gearing to perform extensively over the next months. Priya has garnered great response from her recent live performance on OMNI TV's show ISHTYLE TV, has had a feature spread in Anokhi Vibes magazine as well as a feature interview in DesiTunes4U.
In it's 6th year, the 4 day Masala! Mehndi! Masti! festival has nearly doubled in size, allowing for even more delightful South Asian goods from music, film, visual arts, restaurants, kids activities and workshops and includes artists from Australia, Japan, UK, Trinidad, Pakistan, India, US and across Canada.
