She stood there in the rain. Raindrops drenched her... she turned around and around, hands wide apart, face upwards. The rain splashed on her face. She partially drank the drops...
Then she stopped whirling slowly. She was crying suddenly.
She remembered him. How he danced with her whenever rain came to their terrace. How he gently gave her kisses. How he shared joyous moments with her.
It was all good. Their college days, when carefree and young, they started fighting then became besties, helping each other, then they became partners in every event and prank they participated in.
Then a misunderstanding, some jealousy and insecurity and a fight later, they realised they were in love. They dated after graduation, staying in touch as they carried out their own professional lives in different citiies. Three years of a long distance realtionship later, their courtship resulted into a marriage.
Their families and friends were very happy for them. They shifted to a new city together.
Every day turned into every month, as they stayed in love while carrying out their daily lives.
Rain dancing, long drives, intellectual discussions, music and party, family get together, romance- they had lots of common interests. Sports and cars interested him while she liked music and dance a lot...
Then came the bolt. The world around them crashed as the terrible news came. He was so negligent of his health and was not keen on regular health checkups. He ignored some health problems he had.
The last stage of Cancer.
Her husband suddenly passed away, fainting in the middle of a conference. Doctors announced that the fatal disease had taken him...
She burst into tears. She was all alone in the city. Away from her family and friends. She had no one but rain. Only rain reminded her of him. Three years had gone since he had left her.
She knelt down in the water puddle formed on the ground. She wished and yearned for him.
''I Miss You. I Love You!'' She looked up, tears glistening on her face, running down her cheeks.
If only he had listened to her and had gone to a doctor in time.
She closed her eyes, wrapping herself in her arms. She stopped crying and became numb. She wished those gentle arms, the beautiful smile and the glorious laugh was back...
She never forgot him...
