but it is taken too far on DID. Why are the contestants always kissing the floor of the stage, saying "thank you" around 15 times per appearance, and generally expected to grovel like they are starving people who have been tossed a bread crumb.
If they get a great comment from a judge, it is okay to say "thank you." There is no need to go overboard by saying it 15 times, touching the floor repeatedly, or making divine gestures to thank god (i.e. touching their chest).

It is also okay to be excited and jump and down if you got voted #1 or get the MJ Band etc. But is the pathetic grovelling necessary?

At this point they are all expected to do it because if they don't, they will be called arrogant.

That is nothing. Some contestants even touch Grand master's feet after kya baat kya baat kya baat. And kya baat X3 is supposed to hold less value than a Grand salute.

Haha yeah! That's so funny. just imagine the director of the show prompting them to go touch his feet. This show is no less than a saas bahu drama.

Quite honestly, it was quite disgusting to see the finale and contestants running and jumping to touch dada's feet. I mean who is he when it comes to dance. Its not that "he is a dancing super star".

I get it that dada has won national awards. But, that was for acting and not dancing. But, I don't really blame the contestants. What can they do if the judges and grand master never ask them to not touch their feet every now and then?

Ok no. As a person, dude is literally their grandfather's age so touching his feet is the least the kids can do when he salutes them. It is quite common in India. It will be alarming if they started doing that with the mentors.

I AGREE AND ALSO IT IS A HUGE DEAL TO GET COMPLIMANTS FROM THEIR GURUS AND A LEGEND SUCH A MITHUN DA, (AND MIHUN DA IS MOSTLY KNOWN FOR HIS DANCING STYLE, MORE THAN HIS ACTING)

and u should understand what the contestants are going through...there a whole lot of things going through their minds, 'did i perform ok?' 'did they notice tht i forgot?' 'hope they like it!' or 'oh shit! wht now' and the nerves when standing next to jay and saumya waiting nervously wht they are gonna say...and when u get compliments, every normal person would get excited...and u tend to forget wht u say, and u cant say wht u want to say...and u forget words...and ur mind goes blank...so u repeat the same words, saying thankyou is the only thing u can say at that moment, hahhaaha...seriously, u become too excited to think of other words to say...
please do realise that in india, the background that some of them come from, it is a very BIG deal to be able to perform and stand on that stage...and kissing tht stage is like appreciating the platform that they are given to perform in...

look zaabermard, im not saying ur thinking wrong, maybe some do over exaggerate...but they are not actors, they are DANCERS...and some maybe not all have NO OTHE WAY OF EXPRESSING THEIR FEELINGS THAN THE ONES U HAVE METIONED...

Yes, it is completely retarded. I mean speak to the guy respectfully and thank him if he gives you salute, but why the need to go berserk and start grovelling...

He is just some washed up actor with one or two moments to his name.
But in India, we like to exaggerate people's accomplishments. It is the same reason why we treat corrupt, dumb, politicians like "VIPs"...
