The Matters Of The Heart

The next day, i was jerked out of my peaceful afternoon nap when a loud knock sounded on the door, followed by the doorbell. I groaned and dragged myself to the door with a pounding headache and a broken and hurting heart. In short, i was in a miserable state. I wasn't surprised to find Officer Khushi at the door.

"Good afternoon Miss.Geet, how are you doing?" She asked as me stepping inside without me even inviting her. I closed the door.
"I'm good, thank you." I said, waiting for her to reveal the reason why she was at my house.

"Geet, i'm sorry to bother you but it's my job to investigate this matter further. I have already spoken to Mr Maan Khurana who seems absolutely unaware of why exactly this happened. He says however, that he knew that Nandini, your cousin liked him and that her mother had already planned to get Nandini married to him? Is that true?"

I just simply nodded.

"He's also told me about Vikram. He's your ex-fiance is he not? You called off the wedding because he was cheating on you?" She asked me.

I once again, could do nothing but nod.

"Well, very soon, your aunt and cousin along with Vikram will go on trial. You'll get a call if you'd like to be there."

Saying that, the officer was gone and i stood there unable to say or do anything. That is, until my cell phone rang. I quickly ran to it and picked up.

"Hello?"

"Geet, it's Maan"

An hour later, i sat in Sherry's Cafe, waiting for Maan. Just moments later, he arrived and sat down across from me.

"Maan, before you say anything, i have to tell you something." I blurted out quickly. He raised his eyebrows and waited patiently for me to speak again. I took a deep breath. I had to do this.

"I'm psychic." I told him avoiding looking at him. I heard him inhale and then silence. I looked up in fear and just saw him staring at me with some odd expression.

"Well," he said "that's interesting." I nodded gulping.

"I knew your life was in danger, exactly why i started speaking to you in the first place. I wanted to save you if i could for Annie but i later realized, your life was in danger because of me. That night Vikram attempted to kill you, he had called me first. He told me how my aunt and cousin were with him and he threatened to harm them if i didn't call you and tell you to come where i asked you to." I mumbled looking down at the table.

My head snapped up when i felt his hand on mine. He was smiling at me gently, understandingly. My heart wanted to jump out of my chest.

"Geet, all i can say is, thank you. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me all this. I was completely confused, exactly why i even asked to meet. I needed some answers-"

"Which you've got now." I said cutting him. He laughed and shook his head.

"No, i haven't." He said. I was terribly confused. He laughed once again causing me to smile. He didn't laugh much but whenever he did, it was very pleasant.

"You haven't told me if you like me or not." He said in a slightly naughty tone with his tongue in his cheek. I blushed and he chuckled.

"I'll assume the blush means you do like me." He stated.

With nothing else to do, i nodded and i knew right away, he was grinning from ear to ear.
