as I know-
Well, first up all, the first week of IPL 5 GOT 3.8 TRP AND if we leave4th day and 5th day much, ipl 5 has got 4.9 trp.
Just, coz of hating IPL, PEOPLE ARE PUBLISHING ONLY 3.8 TRP WHICH IS AVG. Of 1st week but if we see per day IPL 5 MATCHES, IT'S GETTING RECORD TRP.
This was my 1st point and secondly, earlier it used to be through four major cities even films were also declard hit 4m there bt it has changed now.
Digital t.v does effect trp. As i had heard bt if it is that old way then in 9 states,people metres are used across only major cities. But, I hope, some of u guys might have people metre. So,keep watching HD

I know someone will surely contradict my point.
With due regards...Let me tell you The news about IPL 5 getting very less trp (specially on the opening day) has been published on 4th page (right side) of the newspaper "TELEGRAPH" which is a very well known newspaper in Eastern India.

The article is 2 paragraphs long and in the last paragraph they have shown the interview of BCCI officials saying that they admit that TRP's of this season are very low...infact lowest...!!!

The news that IPL 4 's very poor TRP is one of the main reason that Australia IPL fans are not able to watch the tournament (IPL 5) on TV... That was the talk of the town last week.
When a world cup cricket tournament winning (that too in a row) country is not at all interested in buying the Telecasting rights then what bigger proof should I tell you that slowly and steadly the Magic Of IPL is vainishing.
You can't ignore Australia...Can you...??? 😕

Recently... MNC's like Godrej, LG etc...withdrew their ads to be telecasted on set max. They found it a waste of money to promote their product when tournamnent is getting such a poor response...

Let me tell you the ad rates on MAX: Earlier it was around 3.3 lacs for mere 10-15 sec!!!
But now it it has reduced by 30-35% of the above typed amount.

I have friends (very senior to me) and knowledgeable too in this field. They too have confirmed about my point...but still want to listen your point in detail about this.

See i found the article...The opening ceremony got the TRP of less than 1.2 (last year it was also poor though it was at least 3+) and last week the avg TRP was about 3.76 (which you are talking about) but
let me tell you the recent Mumbai indians match(in which Rohit sharma scored 18 runs in the much needed last over) counted alone for 6+ TRP.
Otherwise the ratings would have been even poorer...
But What will you say about the rest of the matches...???

Usually cricket matches get TRP'S above 6 but except few matches (hardly 20% of total matches) are below 3!!!

The first six matches of IPL-5 have recorded an average rating of 3.76. In the corresponding periodlast year, the average TRP or TVR (Television Viewership Ratings) was 4.63.
The 18.7% fall from last year's rating is galling considering that IPL-4 started less than a week after an emotionally draining World Cup, won by India.
Ipl opening ceremony has failed only,nt 1st week matches.
