so finally here is chp 8. its a bit short but the next ones will be long as usual.
CHAPTER 8:Surprise
Khushi's heart stopped beating all of a sudden. Had she heard right?
Tears rushed to her eyes. She didn't know why. But she before she could stop them tears flooded her eyes. She turned and ran to the room that deepika had given her. She went and jumped in the bed and cried and cried till sleep finally took over her.
The next day arnav was missing. Khushi asked deepika about his whereabouts. But all deepika said that every Friday and Saturday arnav would disappear for 4 hours on stretch and will refuse to tell them as to where he went. He didn't make any excuses as he never wanted to lie to his siblings and specially deepika. She was his princess. He would not tell her about some stuff but he would never lie.
Khushi(thinking): maybe he went to meet his wife. Hey devi maiyya, why is it that I always feel so sad when I think about him already being married?
Again tears threaten to leak from her eyes but since akash, deepika and payal were in front of her she hid them.
She went around the house looking for any pictures of arnav and his wife but she found none.
Khushi(thinking): maybe he hasn't told many about his marriage. But he wouldn't hide such a big thing from deepu would he. Even she told me on the first day that arnav was single and that he didn't believe in love and stuff.
No. she had to find out about that person arjun had called mami. Then another idea struck her. Why not ask arjun itself.
So the day she spent playing around with arjun thinking of how to ask him in such a way that arjun doesn't think bad of her or she in turn doesn't fall in trouble.
Arnav had returned from wherever it was that he went.
He had returned quite cheerful.
Akash explained to khushi,
Akash: bhai is always happiest during Friday and Saturday. He is always at peace during these two days. I don't know what he does in that time but when he returns he is always happy and cheerful.
Dinner was served.
Today OP and HP were given holiday for the weekend because khushi, payal and deepika had decided to cook food for all of them during the two days.
Even though deepika was from a rich background, she had learned to cook out of interest and she would always make dishes for Arnav and Akash.
She loved making food for them whenever she got the chance and arnav and akash never let the food she prepared go to waste. Even if they had to over fill themselves they ate each and every bite that deepika would prepare.
Not that she didn't prepare good food. Deepika was an accomplished cook.
She was quite good at it. The only reason akash and arnav didn't allow her food or Anjali di's food go to waste was because they loved them too much. they couldn't see anything that their sister's touch go to waste. They loved their sisters a lot.
Today too khushi, payal and deepika had prepared food. It was completely indian food with all the simple stuff like daal, paneer and rajma.
They all ate the food in silence as they enjoyed the food a lot.
It was absolutely delicious.
Arnav: the food was awesome deepu. Thanks for taking the trouble to cook for us.
Deepika: what trouble? You guys pamper me so much. this is the least I can do.
Akash: ya deepu. But if you keep continuing like this, bhai will have to switch from boxing to sumo wrestling.
Everyone threw back their heads and laughed. Even arnav gave a grin.
Khushi(thinking): oh he smiles too huh. Laad governor. But its such a cute smile. It suites him so well. How cute.
Deepika: so what did you like best. You first akash.
Akash: I loved the daal a lot. Its like how nani used to make it.
Deepika smirked and said.
Deepika: ya ya bhai. just because payal made it you had to like it best na? after all the feeling should be mutual. The only reason daal is here is because when I told payal that you liked daal, she was jumping up and down just to make it absolutely special for you akash bhai.
Both akash and payal blushed.
Payal who was sitting next to deepika pinched deepika on her hand.
Deepika just laughed out seeing the pair of the acting like this.
When she finally stopped, she turned and asked the same question to arnav.
Arnan: you know the answer already deepu. I loved the paneer that you made. Those paneer were as soft as you are my princess. But I also loved the rajma as it has indeed been a long time since I had them its my favorite dish you know and for some reason OP never makes them.
Khushi blushed to hear that his fav dish today was the rajma.
Now came the desserts.
(note: arnav isn't diabetic in this ff)
arnav leapt at the kheer. It was his favourite sweet. And khushi and deepika had made it together. Khushi was an expert when it came to making sweets. Especially jalebi. Her personal favorite.
Deepika: oh come on bhai. stop attacking the kheer.
Arnav gave a glare at deepika who just laughed again. He took the kheer and ate it. He loved it and complimented deepika and khushim and thanked them too.
Deepika: so bhai, ready for the outing tomorrow?
Arnav: WHAT?
Deepika: ya we told you that we want to go a picnic tomorrow.
Arnav: well I don't. I want to relax. Akash will take you guys.
Deepika: but I want you to come.
Arnav: Sorry princess. Cant make it.
Deepika gets an idea.
Deepika: arjun, sorry but we wont be able to go. Your mama wont be coming and you said that you will go only if your mama goes. So I think its best if we all don't go.
Arjun: yes masi. If mamu isn't in the mood of going, then I don't want to go too.
Arnav sighed. He always lost in these battles. Always gave in to that emotional blackmail.
Arnav: humph. Fine. Don't act so damn much. we'll all go. Happy?
Arjun: mamu you are the best.
said arjun while giving arnav a hug.
Arnav: that I am. Atleast better than your akash mamu who is drooling over something or should I say someone right now.
Akash: bhai. not you too.
All laughed out. It was a nice day khushi felt. But there was something pricking her heart. She had to find out about that mami arjun was talking about and she had to be really quick about it.
She didn't know why it was bothering her so much. but she did know that she wouldn't be at peace until she finds out the truth.
She knew she had to be careful otherwise if arnav finds out he may give her another unnecessary lecture.
Khushi(thinking): stupid laad governor.
Then arnav took arjun in his arms.
Arnav: its time for you to sleep little champ. Lets go.
Arjun: lets go mamu.
And both of them left.
Khushi: does arjun sleep with arnavji?
Deepika:no. he has his own room. Arnav wants arjun to learnt to be self dependant. So he tucks him in everynight and waits there until arjun falls asleep. Then he goes to his room to sleep.
Khushi: self dependant? At his age? What does that laad governor--- I mean arnavji want. Arjun is such a small kid. He can learn to be self dependant when he grows up. What does arnavji want? Make arjun takeover the business at the age of ten?
Deepika: ha ha… khushi you are so funny at times. Where in the world did you come up with that laad governor nickname. Its so damn funny. Ha ha ha.
Akash: I guess it suits bhai a bit too
And akash smiled.
Deepika: don't let bhai hear you akash bro. After all you are his sparring partner. You don't want to end up in the hospital now do you.
Khushi: what? He practices hitting on a live human being. That to his brother. Is he deranged as well?
Akash's smiled widened. People really never understood that boxing was more than punching the opponent. Ah hell how would his sister and gupta girls know. He sighed shaking his head.
Akash: don't work khushi. I am his sparring partner, not his punching bag. I wear protective gear and I help him to be fast. Not his arms to get strong. Bhai never hits me those blows that he actually uses to knock down his opponents. He just practices some of his combos and tries to increase his speed.
Khushi; but still. It must hurt.
Akash: as I am forbidden to mention about his boxing regime I wont be able to tell you, but the stuff that he does to himself is downright cruel. He literally fights with himself everyday. At times even I don't attend his boxing practice because it is a orture to watch him at it.
Deepika was looking scared now.
Akash: don't worry. He doesn't actually kill himself. So don't look like that.
And when his sister asked too many questions akash just got up and retired to his room for the night.
Khushi and payal slept in the same room and deepika was given a separate room. The three of them chatted throught the night until their sleep took them.
before she slept, khushi decided that the trip would be the best way to clear all her doubts.
