Here's the update for April 8th, 2012.

MB welcomes everyone! She says that Challengers will have to prove themselves today, and that are they ready?! Challengers scream "YES!" 😉😆
SM is asked about the challenge. The name of the challenge is "Purab aur Paschim." that is East and West. He explains that all the styles (rock, hiphop) that are sung everywhere are also present in Bollywood. The songs sung by the Challengers will be sung differently than the original.
Ash Kind is welcome to sing and demonstrate tonight's challenge. He is in India from London. He sings Te Amo from Dum Maro Dum 👏👏.
Then he sings Aunty Ji Aunty Ji from Ekk Main aur Ekk Tuu. 👏
MB says "Can you sing?! Please welcome Ash King. 😆
Then Ash King is asked to demonstrate the song "Dil Gira Mera." He says that he is a huge fan of JJWS. And that his father was friends with Shaan's father. 😲 He especially points out Aneek, Sreeram and Hemant.
Sonia is the first Challenger to sing.
She sings: Aa Zara Kareeb Se from Murder 2. 👏👏
She receives a standing ovation. 👏

SM: Extremely happy. As a judge, I was thinking will she be able to do it, but she has, mata shree 😆😆. Fantastic, fantastic.
SK: I always gets scared and nervous when my fellow small town mates sing in English but you sang this song beautifully! 😃
SH: You sing low notes and high notes without any difficulty. You're definitely the next Sunidhi Chauhan 👏😉.

Sharib comes on next.
He sings: Gulaabi Aankhain from The Train and Sayyan Ve from Jail. 👏👏
Audience was yelling "Once More! Once More!" 😆

SK: Distancing with the mic was the only problem otherwise it was a great performance. Sharib explains to him that the mic slipped at one point from his hand.
SH: Energy was great, driven by the audience. But at the antara, it was like you had lack of interest.
SM: The groove was perfectly played with. 👏

Rehman comes up next.
He sings: Maana ho Tum from Toote Khilone.

SM: I'm very tired after Rehman's performance because I was doing three things at the same time; Judging, Mentoring and conducting. Rehman must be very nervous because of the lack of exposure to this kind of music. He was proud and came out strong instead of falling and failing. 👏

Then, Rehman talks about his grandfather who has passed away and he was Rehman's mentor. Rehman says it's upsetting that he is the one who taught him so much but he is not here to see the success. 😭

SH: Absolutely fabulous.
SK: The spanish lyrics were great, but the potential oh Hindi lyrics was a little low. The words in Hindi needed to be understood better.
SM: I expected more.

SH: This song is a feel song. Variations are needed int he song because of the repetitive lyrics. Could have done better.
SK: Pitching was great. Low notes were great. Could have done better.
SM: A male has sung the original and Torsha was nervous that how will she cope up. That's the idea of this challenge, to explore the areas you haven't yet. Keeping that in mind, it was fantastic! 👏
Sanchita is asked, and she says that Torsha could have done better, next time! 😉

MB asks Sreeram about the performance as yesterday Shivam had said that the rockstar feeling was missing from Sreeram's performance. Sreeram says "I don't understand what he meant by that. And everyone has a different perspective. But about tonigh't performace I thought Shivam was shouting. 👏😆" Shivam says "Badla pura kar liya!" 😆👏

SM: After the first 4 lines, I thought it wasn't Shivam but someone else. Throw, pitch, lining, attitude everything was brilliant! 👏
SK: There is hidden anger behind the song. You took that well till the end. 👏
SH: Power that was needed was there. Open, Loud Rock tone was there. Best performance of JJWS so far. 👏👏

He sings: Zara Si Dil Main De from Jannat.
MB asks him that he sings romantic songs all the time, who are they for? Harpreet says "Main sab sey pyaar karta huun, but obviously larkion key liye." SH and SM are laughing! 😆 MB asks "One particular larki?" Harpreet says "Abhi tak koi nai, jal hi mil jaaye, InshAllah." 😆😆

SH: The performance was not good. Not western, even the western touch that was there in the original was gone from this one. Nothing like the other performances done by contestants.
SK: Agree with Shaan. The sur was not there whether it's English or Indian, the sur is important.
SM: The thinking of this song as a western song was missing. But I was happy with your performance.
