Of late, Akashdeep Saigal (Ansh Gujral in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi') has become difficult to recognise.
Clean-shaven and sporting a short crop, Akashdeep has done away with his pony-tail and beard in keeping with the new character Eklavya that he plays in the show's 20-year leap. As Ansh's son, Eklavya is a positive character and will appear in the show next week.
So does he miss playing the negative Ansh, which, in fact, has been Akashdeep's claim to fame? He guffaws, "Of course I do, more so when I look into the mirror!" He adds, "But I am confident that Eklavya will rock. Instead of the menacing background music during the Ansh phase, hopefully this time it will be a romantic tune. Playing a positive character is giving me a major kick!"
Meanwhile, Akashdeep will also be making his directorial debut with the film 'Ehsaas-Key to Life' (initially titled 'Lotus Dreams') based on child exploitation.
The film is primarily a one-man show with Akashdeep writing the story, screenplay, and doing the music-co-ordination and playback for it. Above all, he has also done a cameo in it. He explains, "There was a role that I wanted Smriti Z Irani to play, but it didn't work out. So I stepped in."
The actor has also sung a rap number 'Mann lagake jab hi dhyaan se padhega' which will be shot with 3-D animation visual effects
