Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan to enact Pyar Ke Side Effects
Now this is a pairing nobody would have predicted. The desi James Bond, Saif Ali Khan, will be starring opposite south siren-turned-powerhouse actress Vidya Balan. Sources close to the actress say Vidya — perhaps the most sought-after name among Bolly heroines post-Kahaani — has been roped in to play the female lead in the sequel to Pyar Ke Side Effects.
PKSE, which released in 2006, was a romantic comedy starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat. The film was widely appreciated for its uniquely quirky content but was felt to be way ahead of its time. The said time, its makers feel, has finally come, and they are now looking to cash in and come out with a sequel. "We have been wanting to make the sequel for a while now. But we were waiting for the right script and starcast," a source says. And in Vidya-Saif, they've found just that. A lead pairing that's not only unconventional but also quite capable of pulling off the rom-com genre with ease.
