VIRMAN OS: Ladoos

Jeevika had led Maanvi down the stairs as Virat was already sitting in anticipation, waiting for her. She swiftly walked down the stairs, taking in the number of people in the venue. It was crowded as she came to the realization of number of eyes which were set on her. She held onto Jeevika's arm tightly as she felt dizzy from the sight infront of her. The venue was largerly covered with white roses and blue chiffon curtains. Admiring the sight infront of her, she saw a large mandap in the middle of the venue, it resembled a canopy, filled with red roses and small hanging mirrors, the sight almost blinding her. She sighed in nervousness. Virat looked up to his bride who was nervously walking down the stairs, his breath caught up with him as he smiled brightly at her. Maanvi smiled back, bitting her lip from anxiousness. She walked up to the mandap and left her heels behind, walking barefoot to the mandap as Jeevika helped her settle on the small stool.

'You look beautiful', Virat whispered, leaning in close to her, mesmorized. She looked at him and beamed.

'Thanks. You don't look too bad either', she answered, smiling brightly.

'Kya karoon, shakal he aise hai, sab kuch suit kar jaata hai', he stated, smirking.

''Sharam karoo, apni wedding day pe bhi itnay shallow', she answered, rolling her eyes in disappointment. He smiled back at her and she replicated his expression.

2 minutes later

'Why are there so many people? Have our families invited the whole chandigarh?', she whispered, looking around at the large crowd gathered around the mandap. It was beginning to feel claustrophobic, she grinned at few faces who were smiling at her.

'Probably, I was looking around before and I think I only recognised 10 people. Don't know who the others are', he whispered back. Moving his hand overs hers, which was hidden in the dupatta so no one knew he was holding her hand. She shuddered at the touch and looked up to see him smiling encouragingly and her nervousness eased slightly. She began to feel more comfortable.

5 minutes later

'Maanvi?', he said, and she leaned over to the side swiftly to hear him better, still facing the front.

'Hmm', she answered boredly.

'Uncle Pandit kab tak chant karte rahe ge?', he asked, pouting at the pandit who sat infront of them as he kept chanting. He sent pleading look to him but the pandit was more interested in the chants infront of him and he hadn't looked in their way even once.

'Virat, shhh', she whispered, sucking her cheeks in to stop her smiling.

'What? Your not bored?', he asked desperately.

'Of course not Virat,we have to listen to these chants. They are going to bind us in a sacred bond', she answered robotically.

'Huh?', he looked at her as his eyes grew wider in suprise in the changes in his soon to be wife.

'Ok, I am a bit bored', she confessed, putting him out of his misery.

'Why that lecture then?', he asked confusedly.

'Since we are getting married, I thought I should act more mature. Yeh words Jeevika di bole thay when she was helping me to get ready'.

'Well done Maanvi jee, your getting smarter by the second!', he praised her sarcastically.

'Are you laughing at me?, she asked, looking away from him.

'Of course not', he answered. At that moment a bright flashed caused his eyes to shut tightly. 'Are Yaar, what is this photographer doing, he's blinding me with the flash'.

'I love it', she answered as the photographer stood on the first step of the mandap, opposite them and zoomed the camera in their direction. Maanvi smiled brightly as he took the picture, Virat frowned in annoyance and muttered something under his breath.

7 minutes later

'Virat, eat this, they are really good', she said, moving her glance to a thaali which was placed near Virat, it was filled with ladoos, ranging from different sizes and colours. Virat followed her gaze and saw a large thaali. He looked at her confused as her eyes mischievously glinted. He didn't think too much of why she wanted him to eat the ladoo as he was hungry anyway, he slowly moved his hand over the large thaali and let it linger for a few seconds as he looked around to see if he was being watched, he grabbed a small laddoo in his hand and rapidly moved it under his sherwani's shawl. He pretended to yawn and with that he ate the laddo. He tasted salt. Lots of salt.

'Uggh', he made a disgusted face. He gulped the the whole thing. 'What is this? It tasted disgusting. Who put this in here?', he asked rapidly.

'I did!', she exclaimed, almost jumping from joy but then supressing it to see a few faces looking at her weirdly. She smiled at them.

'What?', he shrieked quietly. 'Maanvi, your not supposed to prank me, your the bride?', he gritted through his teeth.

'Toh kya howa. Bride ho gaye doesn't mean I can't have fun', she excitedly answered, grinning at her succesful prank.

10 minutes later

'Mujhe lagta hai ke I lost a few years of my life', she sighed, fidgeting with her pink dupatta. It was ridiculously heavy on her hand due to the small detailed embroidery.

'Ahi tak to mere bachay bhi hogaay hote', he smirked, softly elbowing her to get her attention as she lightly chuckled and then composed herself as Beeji angirly stared at her.

'Maanvi, can you do me a favour? Phere thore fast lena. I have been sitting here for too long', Virat pleadingly asked as he shifted his weight. Maanvi looked at him and creased her forehead.

'Tumhe olympics ke race lagte hai? Everyone will laugh at me', she answered.

'For the sake of Laddoos', he asked innocently, putting on his inoccent expression as Maanvi let out a chuckle.

'Don't talk about laddoos, I am starving', she said. Her other hand involuntary went to her stomach.

'Yeh to hona he tha. When did you last eat?', he asked.

'3 hours ago. Can you believe it? I haven't eaten in 3 hours!', she exclaimed.

Virat looked around to see any food around him which he could offer to Maanvi. His eyes landed on the salty Laddoos thali but he rubbished the thought of feeding her salty laddos as she was truly hungry and being hungry for 3 hours in Maanvi's world was close enough to a day. He looked back and saw another thaali with small laddos. He leaned back slightly, pretending to sort out his sherwani, he grabbed a small laddo and leaned forward.

'Here', he offered her the ladoo. She looked down to his hand as he held out a small laddoo, she varyingly looked at him. Suspicious of his actions.

'I'm not eating those ladoos', she answered, thoughts of salty ladoos making her lose her appetite.

'They are fine, trust me', he stated as he held out the laddoo in his hand and smiled sincerely.

'Alright.I wish mere face covered hota ghoongat se so I could eat this without anyone knowing', she pouted.

'Pretend to cough and just gulp it', he suggested. She looked at him in confusion and looked around them. Everyone was looking at them.

'What? Alright. I'll try it. I'm starving', she said, she took the ladoo from his hand and pretended to cough quietly, placing the hand which had the ladoo in on her mouth as she looked down and ate it, chewing slowly then she ever has.

'Do you want one more?', he asked.

'Can you pass me two?', she answered.

Viren and Jeevika came up behind them and sat behind in middle of the couple. Viren and Jeevika smiled at their actions but then their eyes met with Daddaji and Beeji as they ushered them to do something. Viren leaned forward to speak to them.

'Tum log dinner party karna aaye ho kya? Tab se dekh raha hoon, you keep eating', he said as Jeevika laughed quietly.

'But Jiju, I'm hungry', Maanvi whined and Viren smiled. Jeevika could see that Viren was not going to help them snap out of their laddoo phase and she leaned foward and whispered. 'Manu, Daddaji aur Beeji thoda gussa kar rahe hai'.Maanvi's head snapped up to look at her Beeji who stood opposite her, looking slightly angry. Maanvi gulped and looked at Virat.

'Acha hai mein tumhare ghar aa rahe hoo, warna beeji toh band baaja daytee', she stated. Virat looked at Beeji and then at Daddaji, he was slightly annoyed but then when was he ever not annoyed with him.

'Lucky! Dadda ji mujhe kacha chabha jayenge', he answered. Hearing their conversation, Viren replied, 'Have you forgotten? You are leaving for your honeymoon straight after the wedding'.Manvi and Virat both looked at eachother and smiled brightly as they both winked at eachother at the same time.

' Maanvi, do you want another laddoo?', Virat asked politely.

'I would love one!', she answered back.
