This resident of Singh Niwas, Janata Market Road, says that contrary to her screen character of a struggling singer, life has been pretty easy for her so far.

"Kaarthika is the story of a 16 year-old-girl who aspires to be a music idol. The serial follows her trials as she forms a band with her friends, and compared to the struggle she goes through I've had things come to me on a platter," laughs Jennifer, who says she is quite different from the character she portrays.

"I don't have Kaarthika's singing talent but I am as sensitive as her," she adds.

This is the first lead role for Jennifer who has already played the role of Simran in Kkusum and Kajal's younger sister in Koi Dil Mein Hai, both aired on Sony.

"In Kkusum, I was Simran, a small-town girl from Ludhiana who is Kumud's best friend. She is a bubbly character and slightly boy crazy, which I am not," Jennifer claims quickly. Incidentally, this role got her the Best Friend Award at the recently held Indian Telly Awards 2004.

Jennifer started her acting career when she was just five years old. "My mother used to work for Shogan Films. Once, when I had accompanied her on the sets, someone spotted me and asked me if I had a portfolio."

Jennifer got it done and got her first break in the film Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya starring Manisha Koirala. "I played the role of one of the kids in this movie," she reveals.

However, Jennifer says she didn't always want to be an actress. "I wanted to be an airhostess; acting was never on my mind. But after I shot for the film, I knew acting was the career for me," says this first year degree student at Somaiya College. "My family has supported me throughout," she adds.

Now, Jennifer is concentrating on Kaarthika and hasn't signed up for anything else. "I want to give all my attention to this serial," she says
