3 Movie Reviews; **Review Vilayadal PG1**

A simple song that garnered as many flashbulbs as possible leading to an expectation level of epic proportion of the film in which it is featured is finally out. And when the flick happens to be the debut directorial work of Aishwarya Dhanush, it is but natural that the spotlight is completely swivelled on 3.

For her maiden film Aishwarya has taken a common and ubiquitous premise, love and relationships, accompanied by a suspense element in the script. Her spouse, Dhanush has immensely supported her to translate her vision on the larger canvas by giving one of his best performances.

Simple dialogues and neat performances help Aishwarya in this sojourn of hers. However it is the doddering script and slow narration that works against 3 in a major way. Aishwarya finds it difficult to give her audience an immersive experience.

Dhanush- Need we say anything on this talented artist? He is in a different higher league and can sail across any role. Having said that, we cannot rule out the hangover of Mayakkam Enna in this film.

For Shruthi who gets a meaty role in 3 manages to dish out a neat performance although struggling hard in the heavy duty emotional scenes. It is also difficult to accept her as a middle class Tamil girl with her Semitic looks but she scores well with her timid and frightened demeanour as a school going girl.

Prabhu, Bhanupriya and Rohini prove time and again that they are after all seasoned performers.

Dhanush is blessed with the looks of a school or a college boy while the same cannot be said about Siva Karthike

In the same way, Sundar Ramu who is not shown in proximity with Dhanush in the first part emerges as a pivot all of a sudden in the second half.

Music of Anirudh is the biggest plus of 3 and the picturization of the much in rage Kolaveri does not disappoint although it appears at a time when the going is quite serious.

As regards the technical department, cinematographer Velraj and editor Kola Bhaskar have worked as per the dictates of the film. The difference in looks, costumes and body language in the different age group of Dhanush and Shruthi is well delineated.

There are a few aspects which are quite implausible and unexplained like Dhanush tying the mangalsutra to Shruthi in the pub although his parents are not against his marriage. And it's surprising that when there is an issue of serious proportion, why it is not conveyed to Prabhu and Bhanupriya especially when they are shown as such lovable parents.

Verdict: Good performances, slower narration

Dhanush : Dhanush oda acting lam chance ai illai he is just superb. Neraya scene la super ah perform panni irukaaru. Biposal disorder apo Dhanush acting lam wonderful school get up avarukku apdiyai apt and climax la he is the best. The saving factor for the movie is dhanush and his acting... Dhanush padathulayai intha padathula thaan romba kissing scenes..

Shruthi Haasan : Compared to 7aam Arivu she improve a lot enna onnu all the scene la aluthu irukanga atha pakkura engalukku thaan aluga varuthu koncham kammi ah alutha nalla irukkum.. Avanga acting was good but crying scene koncham improve pannanum Shruthi we are expecting more from u. Shruthi pls don't cry atha ennala pakkavai mudiyala.


Siva Karthikeyan : First half la mattum thaan varuvaru avar varura scene lam sirichuttai irukalam he is a scene stealer. But enna oru sad na after Shiva pona pothu thaan only movie boring ah poga aramichathu naan siva va romba miss pannan second half la...


Sunder Ramu : Avar nalla nadicharu intha padathula avar moolama thaan Dhanush oda disorder theriya varum he get a important role. Enna oru kavalai avaruku intha padathulayum no jodi what a sad news...


Music : What a busic by Anirudh yaarum solla mattanga ithu debutant music mathri ai illai just osum and BGM thaaru maaru..

Cinematography : Cinematography lam padathula varura ennoru hero mathri athula sila shots lam romba realistic ah plus natural ah irukkum

Song Picturization : All the song picturization was good and it was a relief that we didn't see any kuthu song in the middle of a sad scene. Come on Gils - entha oor la pa kalyanam pub la nadakkum itha namba mudiyalayai intha mathri kalayanam ithan first time pakkuran vitta kitchen, sudu kaadu la kalyanam pannuvanga yosikalam ana ipdi vivakarama yosicha comedy ah thaan mudiyuum. Anyway that la la la la line la Siva and Sunderamu oda dance super and comedy. Kolaveri - I never expected that kolaveri will be sodhapufy it created a big hype but kolaveri nalla kuthu song but antha hype ku justice pannala.. All the songs done justice to the picturization.. My Favourite is Idhazin Oram picturization and watch it for Sivakarthikeyan expression... Po nee po picturization kooda semaya irunthuchu and even all the picturization lam sema.


Story and Screenplay: The story was new and good. First half was very good but the sudden disappointment is the biposal disorder why they keep that thing. Avanga atha avoid pannitu vera mathri ethavathu panni iruntha second half pinni irukkum. They didn't reaserch the Biposal disorder properly ennaku kooda atha pathi onnum theriyathu ipo anniyan ah edutha athula varura split personality ah theliva sonnanga but intha padathula atha sodhapitanga sollura karutha theliva sonna thaana ella type of audience ku reach agum. Second half tragedy oda panniratha vida vera mathri panni irunthu kalam like strongly showcase Dhanush and Shruthi haasan love and suspense ah kooda vera mathri panni irunthukalam.. Screenplay is a big minus even first half super ah irunthalum slow va drag pannuranga but second half yappa sema slow na dead slow padama romba slow va overall ah drag pannitanga. Mostly intha padam oda second half Mayakkam Enna mathri thaan irukku..


Direction : Debut film padi patha aishwarya has done a good job but ennum concentrate pannanum and do proper research while doing some things that the audience doesn't know. She could have direct the film better. Aishwarya use Selvaraghvan direction style that is one of the minus because Selvaraghavan sir style avar panna thaan nalla irukkum vera yaaravathu avaroda style la panna athu copy nu thaan solluvan. Selvaraghavan oda ella padathayum oru padam ah combine panna epdi irukkumo atha mathri irukku 3. Anyway her direction is impressive. Mostly she takes the film very slow she have to improve second padam lam improve pannina she will became a good director. But she is having a good chance to become a good director..


Overall for me 3 is a disappointment for me it is kolaveri ku apparam potta mokkai ala padam ai avalava pidikala especially first half was good athu kooda slow thaan 2nd half dead slow. Climax tragedy la mudichu iruka thevai illai positive ah mudichu irukalam apo padam etho theri irukkum overall it is a sumar movie thaan..


Verdict : 3 vanthu 3 times pakka mudiyathu only 1 time thaan
