This post might be a little late in coming for the viewers back in India..but just got a chance to see SPA...and I have no intentions of re opening the Pandora's Box...meaning reopening a controversial issue..but can't help expressing my feelings about this...

Before I saw SPA..I had the misfortune of reading multiple comments on Barun Sobti as a host...so when I finally got to see it...was actually evaluating him throughout..😉 (the biggest issue with being a forum member always is...u are denied the simple pleasure of being a viewer...😆) and according to me the problem here was something different...

All the hosts were actually not playing themselves..they were still enacting the roles they play in their shows...be it Kokila or Sajjam Singh or Badi Ma or Suhana..Rashi or Viren...and their roles have typical costumes..or mannerisms...or way of talking that u can immediately make out that they are not being themselves..but still role playing...

In our ASR's case...he dresses like normal business guys...he talks normally...the biggest issue he avoids talking at all...prefers to the point one liners...forget humour with this role (Barun still managed to insert his own brand of sarcastic humour)...smiling doesn't come easy to ASR, his stiff carriage is a trademark...unfriendliness a byword...and to top it all...ASR is absolutely uncomfortable with people and crowds...

Now, because of his pretty normal looking and talking character (nothing OTT about it)...most of the ppl simply forgot that he is still playing ASR...they kind of evaluated BARUN as a host...but that was the whole point...Barun was not the host...ASR was..and Barun the fab actor that he is...was still in his character..too subtle a difference for others to grasp...

Now when he came back to collect his awards...he is was different...he smiled..laughed...commented..his whole body language was altered...also got a taste of his humour (with sanaya 😆)..and a taste of his humility and sweetnes...which all was missing as ASR.

Anyways, Barun Sobti adds his touch of perfection again...a different story ..its so fine and subtle...that most of it is lost on the audience...😃

This makes sense... if Barun was being ASR while hosting then he definitely did it perfectly.

when i read ur title i was like 😕 and then 😲 and a second later 😡 and then when the post was slow in opening because of stupid internet connection i was like but it finally opened i started reading 😔 😒 and finally upon reaching the third last paragraph 😃

u r sooo right eveline 🤗 i ws thinking the same thing...the first time he 'ORDERED' the nomination I was like 🤔 that was rude and then 😛 wait ... i RECOGNIZE that...i FINALLY got it. 🥳 we met ASR throughout the SPA ...great great hosting...

now who the hell said that Barun was a bad host or was nervous 😡...that person is 🤢

yes..he was not Barun he was ASR..and he was role playing again...have to say he did it to perfection...the cool and casual stance...the less talking..less chatty attitude...true to his character..(which ppl did not even realize 😕)

😆..whoever the hell did say that was not familiar with ASR..😉..so obviously missed the gist!!

Actually I have to admit that I was one of those who didn't realize...😆. But I guess I assumed too quickly based on what many forum members said... Although I didn't find the hosting bad.

Your post made me realize now...even the Kokila lady was calling him Arnav and not Barun...so it makes sense...

😊..see that is one of the reasons why this show works for me...the characters are day today indentifiable ones...they are casual...barring a few like mami..no OTT ness here..😆

Lol exactly what i was thinking, he had to play the role of ASR, we all know how jokey and funny Barun is but on stage he wasn't Barun...

wow totally agree... very well said. even i was upset seeing everyonee blame barun. but i thought surey there must be a reason behind it and u brought it out really very well👏 barun rocks as always in whatever he does⭐️
