Zayed Khan was at his magnanimous best during the Rockstars World Tour last month. The star ordered dinner for nearly 40 crewpersons while on tour in Boston (America), when the promoters of the show did not provide them with any food.
Hunger pangs
Says our source, "That night, someone quizzed Zayed's Man Friday, Imtiaz about why was he looking so forlorn. Imtiaz said that the dancers and other crew like him who were accompanying the stars had not eaten any food."
Eventually, Zayed learnt about the shabby treatment being meted out to the crew, and immediately ordered that these people be served some khaana. "He even made sure that there was no compromise on both quality and quantity. He could have easily passed on the bill to the Moranis, but he did not," says our khabru.
Fading stars
The Rockstars tour has had its share of problems over money and tiffs between the stars. Considering it boasted of names like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapur, Kareena Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat, it wasn't surprising.
But what were the other actors doing while their staff was left hungry? Says the source, "This happened at around 11 pm. The next day, the actors had to leave for another destination so most of them were sleeping. John, however, was missing."
John's rendezvous
So where was John? "Nobody knows. And this was not the first time that John had gone missing. He was absent during most of the meetings that the stars had among themselves or with the organisers and promoters. While all the other actors appeared in person, his manager, Bhaskar Shetty, represented John. This was rather funny, because then, there was every possibility of some miscommunication happening," adds the source.
Real-life hero
The source further reveals that the guys who were served food, courtesy Zayed, became very fond of Zayed, almost instantly, and gave him thousands of blessings. When contacted, Zayed admitted that such an incident indeed took place, but added, "Please don't paint me as a some real-life hero. Often, we do things that sometimes need to be done."
