Is it so demeaning to work in a canteen?

I have seen so many negative posts about Khushi becoming a canteenwali. I can not figure out why it is being considered unclassy/ demeaning/insulting?
Do not all jobs deserve equal respect? And does the person doing a low income earning job deserve rebuke or insults. We all know the answer is No. So why are we labelling her as unclassy.
For me it is quite refreshing to see a girl married into a rich family still striving to earn a decent living with the skills she has. There is nothing unclassy about that. It is better than to sit at home and do nothing.
I thing the class system is so deeply engrained in our minds, that some jobs will never gain that respect in some people's eyes. And I guess that is the reason ASR has so many supporters because like him many of us are bitterly class conscious.

Did not mean to offend anyone. But just feeling a bit sad, that all the progress our country has made, the mindsets have not really changed.

I agree... there is really nothing wrong in working in a canteen and supplying food. It doesn't matter whether she is the wife of a rich person or not...she is using her own skills and making herself useful... this is an applaudable fact.

There is nothing wrong in doing a Canteen job. Infact what she thought was good and I respect that. And I am sure ASR will also respect that.

But the way they showed to just to repay 300/-(She said itni badi rakam) it didn't make sense. It would have been good if she had thought about hospital Bills and 1 lakh which she need to repay to Arnav that would have been more convincing

I agree , Khushi core competency was in making food.. And if she starts her business supplying food to AR she will gain confidence and experience and then she can take further on... I always thought Khushi should either go in catering or maybe choreography ...office admin job was not suited for her.. Any job is good so long u r not sitting idle and gossiping away...well done girl please continue showing maturity...cvs... Pat I the back today...

not at all...people who complain have nothing better to do...or they themselves think of poor people as lower class or law aukaat (in ASR's words)

Being herself in the canteen does not look good to me but it is perfectly ok to do catering...it's better if she takes it a on going thing not just sell food one day to make that 300 rupees...

I agree with you completely...She's not highly educated,but tries to earn money thru honest means...She cannot live-off Arnav's fortune and is trying to be independent.. I like that,but many ppl stil have low opinions abt such hard-workers..Sad!
