Their half sister's name is Pooja (& half bro's Rahul), but the names of both the sisters born to Sony are derived from Urdu; that's why I asked the reason behind this preference

But Mahesh Bhatt's mother was a Muslim. Zakhm is based on her story. I don't know about the burning part though. Perhaps he wanted to name his daughters in her memory.

Maybe Mahesh named the first set of his children keeping his father's religion in mind (his first wife even changed her name to a Hindu one) and his second set, for his mother. Or Soni was insistent on Muslim names. Who knows.
