Malaria delays Park Road suspense
Ram Kapoor falls ill and a much-awaited sequence in Kasamh Se has to be postponed

The recent downpour alone is not responsible for the irregularities in the telecast of daily soaps. Last week actor Ram Kapoor who plays the lead role of Jai Walia in Kasamh Se fainted on the sets as he had been shooting non-stop for 48 hours. The actor had barely recovered and reported to work, when he fell sick again.
Apparently, Ram Kapoor is down with malaria. His poor health didn't allow him to shoot for the Park Road suspense sequence that the Kasamh Se unit had planned to reveal on the July 5. "Last week was chaotic for the Kasamh Se team," says a unit member.
The Kasamh Se unit works on zero bank episodes. The scenes they shoot in the morning are uplinked the same day for telecast. "Thankfully, we didn't miss any episode. The problem happened when Ram complained of uneasiness. He was rushed back home and was later taken to the doctor. He is diagnosed with malaria," says the assistant director of Kasamh Se.
How did the unit account for Ram's absence in the show and, more so, for the fact that the Park Road suspense had to be postponed? "It wasn't easy as we had put up the hoardings of Park Road all over town. Eventually, we had to show that Jai Walia is rushed to Pune for some unforeseen reason. Ram's condition was so bad that he couldn't even shoot for that one scene where he has a telephone conversation with his on-screen wife Bani, explaining his abrupt trip to Pune." The Park Road suspense has now been deferred to next week.
Meanwhile, Ram is recuperating. "He has been asked to rest," says his wife Gautmi Gadgill Kapoor. According to her, Ram will resume shooting early next week despite not recovering completely. Such are the consequences of working in a daily soap!
