'My singing, which is my religion and my passion, is suffering. I can't focus on my songs,' Narayan broke down, four days after his meeting with Ranjana Devi, who claims to be his first wife, at the Patna airport. 'Our discussion lasted from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. I left Patna airport thereafter,' Narayan told us. Narayan's meeting with his so-called first wife on June 30 was held under heavy security from both sides. 'I was scared,' confessed the popular singer. 'I had taken my own security from Mumbai. This is what I have been reduced to now. I feel my life and my career are under threat.' He sighs and talks very reluctantly. 'It wouldn't be appropriate to reveal the content of our conversation. But, yes, we spoke for a long time at the airport restaurant.' The Bihar Women's State Commission has been repeatedly taking up cudgels on behalf of the alleged first wife. Narayan feels hounded and persecuted. 'The dead end between this lady and me has now been broken. Hopefully, in a few months we'll have the matter sorted out.' If Narayan falsifies the lady's claims, why did he fly down to meet her? 'It's a family matter. The lady's sister is married to my younger brother. We spoke; we are trying to sort out the matter.'
'I was proud of what I have achieved. But now I am broken from inside. I tried to manage the crisis that has suddenly cropped up in my life. But I don't think I have succeeded.' Apparently, the woman is being given political support for her campaign to prove Narayan is her estranged husband. The singer restrains from commenting on this issue. 'I just want this storm to blow over. I met the lady to know what pained her and what she wanted. We are heading towards a compromise.' |
