One Direction are a British-Irish boy band, consisting of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. They auditioned as solo candidates for the seventh season of The X Factor, but failed to qualify for the "Boys" category. So, the five guys were put into a band, thus qualifying for the "Group" category. They became immensely popular due to their talent, and well'their good looks! ;) They finished third behind runner-up Rebecca Ferguson, and winner Matt Cardle. Immediately after the X Factor final, their song, "Forever Young" which would haven released if they had won if they won the show, was leaked onto the Internet.
One Direction's debut single "What Makes You Beautiful" was released on 11 September 2011. The single debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number one on 18 September 2011, shifting 153,965 copies, becoming the third fastest selling single of 2011.Their second single, "Gotta Be You" was released on 13 November 2011, which peaked at number three.

Niall Horan
Born on 13th September 1993 (So, he's 18 right now! ❤️)
Where from: Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. :D
He was a pupil at Coliste Mhuire, Mullingar, a boys' CBS secondary school. Horan auditioned with "So Sick" and received mixed comments from judges present at his audition, with Louis Walsh in his favour. While two other judges having doubts on whether he was ready to progress in the competition. With three votes out of four he was sent to bootcamp. At bootcamp, he sang "Champagne Supernova" before being rejected and put into One Direction. Niall also plays the guitar. (WHEEE! :D)
~Leprechauns~
Sneha: He's the blondie, who is laughing laughing. This lad finds everything amusing! :D He's really funny too! :P And of course, has an amazing Irish accent ;)
Neha: He is the only Irish in the band and is constantly happy. He laughs on EVERYTHING, even like just seeing a pencil lying on the table. He's cried only once, when he was eliminated from X-Factor, and sigh! it was so sad!! He goes all dark red when he starts laughing and he is really really proud of being Irish.
Shrutika: He's the first blonde guy I'm crushing on. His hair is L.O.V.E.! <3
Sanaa: "Oh My Gawd, Let's go surfing." American girly accent, slap bang on! Had me laughing after ages at that! He doesn't have much solos, but when he does, he blows the crowd away!! He plays the guitar too! <3 Oh, and I love his first name. It has such a smooth flow to it. 😆

Zayn Malik
Born on 12th January 1993 (So, he's 19 right now! :D)
Where from: West Lane Baildon, Bradford UK.
He is British Pakistani. He is a pupil at Tong High School, a state comprehensive school.His audition was initially not broadcast, but was shown after the series ended on companion show The X Factor. Zayn was noted for becoming nervous in bootcamp, and when he was told he had to dance, he decided to remain backstage, effectively running the risk of elimination. Cowell noticed Malik missing from the dance routine and went backstage and convinced him to return. Zayn dated fellow X Factor contestant, Rebecca Ferguson, which caused controversy because of the six year age difference. The relationship ended after 4 months together. In November 2011, Ferguson stated the following in an interview: "Me and Zayn just grew apart. I wish him all the best."

Sneha: Zayn, Zayn, Zayn'*sigh* The poser, the Mr.Products-in-his-hair, the one with a R&Bish voice. It's super sexy. :D As a matter of fact, HE is super sexy ;) Oh, and VAS HAPPENIN ;) OH, AND HE CAN SPEAK HINDI! YES YES HE CAN! :D
Neha: He's Pakistani-British, although he doesn't have anything Asian in him. :D Everyone is the band calls him "Vain Malik" He is considered the hottest(According to a poll I guess, and I half-agree) in the band and he dated Rebecca Fergueson, another contestant of X-Factor. He keeps repeating "Wa's happening?!", his punchline kinda. He speaks the least in their video diaries and interviews(trust me-I've watched ALL of them! ) He is a terrible dancer but I love him all the same :D
Shrutika: He. Is. Adorable. Period. And I adore his voice. Va's Happenin'?
Sanaa: Girls, you can have his body, his looks and everything, but I bag his voice! His ridges, and echos in the acoustic version of What makes you beautiful make me just smile at my screen. That's Zayn for you. Just a wonderful voice. And he speaks the least in interviews, says he's shy, which just makes his personality that much hotter. Vas Happenin?

Liam Payne
Born on 29 August 1993 (He's 18 right now, then! :D)
Where from: Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK.
He is a music technology student at City of Wolverhampton College, a Further Education College. Payne had auditioned in 2008 to The X Factor's fifth series when he was 14 and reached judges' houses, but Cowell thought he was not ready for the competition and asked him to come back in two years. This time, Payne auditioned singing "Cry Me a River", and received a standing ovation from the audience and Simon Cowell.

Sneha: I think if I were to compare myself to anyone in this band, it'd be him. I find that I could relate to him a lot! :D He's AWESOME I think. I LOVE his everchanging hair, and he has a super cute smile! <3 Love this guy! :D
Neha: I <3 him. He has THE most amazing accent and according to the band he is the most composed guy. He has a steady girlfriend(what a pity!) and well he's really really poised and funny. Liam had auditioned once when he was 16 but he was rejected and Simon Cowell told him to come after 2 years and when he auditioned this time, he received a standing ovation <3
Shrutika: Weee! I love his name! LOL! And besides that, I adore his smile. Sigh, so dreamy.
Sanaa: Pretty Boy, with a wonderful voice! He sang the introduction to What Makes You Beautiful, and honestly, I fell in love with him then and there. Especially considering that was the first song of theirs I listened to! Sorry girls, he's taken already. So to the girl who has him, he's a keeper, don't loose him else he'll be pounced on by a million girls around the world 😆

Harry Styles
Born on 1 February 1994 (HE'S 18! YAYAYAYA! :D),
Where from: Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, UK
He is a pupil at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, a state comprehensive school. Harry was the lead singer for the band White Eskimo with band members lead guitarist Haydn Morris, bass guitarist Nick Clough and drummer Will Sweeny. Harry auditioned with "Isn't She Lovely" and received positive comments from two of the three judges present at his audition, with Louis Walsh having doubts on whether he was ready to progress in the competition. At bootcamp, he sang "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" before being rejected and put into One Direction. Styles briefly dated eight series The Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack, which caused wide spread media controversy over the age gap.

Neha: He is, according to me and a lot of other people, the best "singer" in the band. He's the youngest and just turned 18 few weeks ago. He lives with Louis and everyone envies him for his hair!! I love it too. Everyone, including the band makes fun of his love for older women, 'cuse he happens to be "dating" Caroline Flack. It was even said that he was living-in with her, but thankfully they were rumors. :DD
Sneha: Did you have to mention Flack? Gah. -_- Lol jokes. :D

Where from: Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK.
He was a sixth form student at Hall Cross School, a state comprehensive school, and a previous pupil at The Hayfield School. Louis auditioned for The X Factor with the song "Hey There Delilah", and received three votes from the three judges. At bootcamp, he sang "Make You Feel My Love" before being rejected and put into One Direction.

Sneha: Sigh I hate him but I love him :D He's awesome, but his antics kinda piss me off at times. :P But yesssh. He's awesome. He needs to sing more because I think he has an AWESOME voice. AWESOME! :D
Neha: He is THE FUNNIEST guy in the band! You HAVE to watch their video diaries! They are so impeccably adorable, and especially Louis. He always has soomething tied up or held in each video and is hilarious. He has steady girlfriend too like Liam, and I guess they both were dating their partners before X-factor began.

Sanaa: Zac Efron look alike! And Neha is right, he is the funniest guy in the band! Just like Niall, he doesn't have many solos but you should hear the crowd screaming when he does! Honestly. Not the amreican crowd though, those girls scream all the time anyway - and I'm saying this after watching interviews after interviews. 😃
