Gulzar's name is taken with regard in the realm of poetry, short story writer, scenarist and filmmaker. He is a man who made his mark in the golden era and is still reining the music industry of the current times. Though his contribution is more dominating in the realm of music, he is also a writer of plays and films. He has been associated to theatre and now makes a comeback once again with the play 'Agar Aur Magar'. Telling more about it he says that it's an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's play 'One Who Said Yes/One Who Said No'. While the original play is in the form of a musical chorus, he has re-written it like poetry. With children enacting the parts, it makes for an interesting viewing. The play is for both the young and the adults. Kuldeep Singh is doing the music.
"I feel like a student of the medium. I'm excited about the play. We are staging it with kids in the lead. I attend the rehearsals regularly. For the play, I even sat with the artistes for the reading. The story on which my unreleased film Libaas is based was staged earlier as the play Kachche Lamhe Ke Naam Se. Directors and actors have reached a kind of saturation in cinema. And good artistes such as Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam and Kirron Kher are turning to theatre to re-vitalise themselves," Gulzar says.
