Another one😃.

Neil Bhatt

Indian television industry has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. But it has a lot more space and strength to further flex its muscles. However, its growth is being hampered by the lack of experimentation in terms of conceptualization. Well, we are not being analytical; this is what Neil Bhatt 'who was seen as Kesar in Star Plus' Gulaal ' has to say about the industry.

"Whenever I meet any channel official or producer, I tell them to do something different. I think there's a lot to explore," feels Neil.

So what do you exactly mean by different? "If you see, abroad they have seasons of different shows. This trend should begin in India. Furthermore, more focus should be channelized towards hiring good professionals and scriptwriters. Scripts should be fixed and should not be changed depending on TRPs or response from the market. Aisa script likho ke change karna hi na pade," he adds.

Very noble thoughts, we must admit. So given an opportunity, will he bring any changes in the TV industry? "Absolutely. Right now, I don't have the resources, but one day I know I will have avenues to make good shows and bring a change in the industry. Khane mein kanda zyada kyun dal diya and then people react to it; I don't think I can make such shows. Indian viewers deserve a lot better as they are very smart," Neil ends.

Well Neil, you should definitely go for it and one day your show will rule the roost on the TRP chart!!!

Wow such mature thoughts from Neil...way to go👏 Hope he is indeed able to contribute to bringing about change in the TV industry and it's melodramatic scripts.

Maybe Gulaal has forever raised his standards too...lol...I loved that line about "aisi script likho jo change hi na karni pade"...Gulaal personified that.

Hope he picks a better show to return with than Manasi has with KTLK...quite disappointing.

May you word and aspiration come true within our lifetimes Neil - what a revolution it would be for Indian TV... Moving out of the stereotype is a great intention - as long as we're not going to move from one kind, to the other.

WORD on his aisa script likho ke badalna hi na pade... Is anyone who matters in the TV industry reading this? Someone better be!!!

Thanks for sharing Rimmy 🤗 and thanks for the PM Nur =)

So I take it you aren't returning?! 😆 I was going to give it a second shot for kicks - for Manasi's choice, although I can't imagine her pulling off a phoenix - but still. Although, there was MB there all along, and even he couldn't make it happen for me...

@Neil's personal revolution - truly that! You know what they say?

One moment in a man's life is so stupendous to take the luster out of all fiction... Kesar, as a fictional character, must have been that one non-fictional stupendous event for Neil!

Nahin, Jzee...that show is beyond lame now...even MB can't salvage it for me...it's just body doubles central...what will Manasi do in that show? Cry over how she married an "older guy"? Boohoo...so not interested in watching trite storylines of this sort...the entire show has just boiled down to "OMG I'm dating an older man"...no maturity, no sensitivity in their relationship...Nidhi acts like a giddy 10 year old and even MB's acting like he's her dad...it's creepy...is sab mein Manasi pata nahin kaunsa timepass karne pahunch gayi hai in the show...unless they're gonna hook her up with KW's character or something...egads😆

I was happy enough watching Manasi in SYR...I would rather watch her in some GOOD fiction whenever she chooses to return with something of that sort...this is not it.

Ooh! I forgot there was also Wahi 😆 Not a fan, sadly, not a fan at all. Manasi and him - *no comments* 😆 Wahi and Kritika would have complemented, IMO 😆 And Manasi could be hooked with MB instead... Now that would be something! 😎

Okay this show clearly tried too hard to complicate some genuinely credible twists to ridiculous melodrama. @MB acting dad to 10 year old Kittu - sigh. There were tell tale signs from the start. Kritika can't really go beyond Arohi, apparently. Not that she had the best Production House with Shahi for a guide.

I'll probably sit at it for kicks - if NBT and school leaves the kind of time. Manasi in SYR was perfect post Gulaal...

ps: this is off the topic, but is anyone watching Devon Ka Dev? I got a couple recs to check it... so wondering...

off to catch today's NBT... I assume you'll post by the time I get done =)

Jzee, today's NBT was awesome...have already made the post...will wait for your take on it :-)

I am watching Devon ke dev actually...it's pretty good for a mythological show...haven't caught up with the past week of epis though...been too busy with NBT.

Manasi with MB would again be the same kind of storyline which now I'm convinced that MB can't pull off...what is up with these ppl being UNCOMFORTABLE with showing MATURE romance? Seriously they need to grow up.

Wahi and Kritika can wait to land their own "youth" show which doesn't require much acting and only "hawtness"...this show is pathetic anyways.

Nithya, I don't care so much for seasons - although I do think the concept of them as such gives better chance for quality, cause you have fixed plans in every way, and most importantly, you're not airing an episode a day.

But I think the part I want to take home from his interview is the script writing, and the change of the dominant stereotype... and I could hug him to say that the audience is more intelligent than what they're being taken for - even if the audience gets shockingly sad all the time, somewhere, what TV gives them, is what they begin to get used to, to the extent that it becomes what they want! But it doesn't mean that treating the audience to something intelligent will not shake them up, and make them look at the stagnation of TV entertainment as such...

The only promising show in terms of comeback seasons on Indian TV that I know of is Rishta.Com - and that has been a closed chapter for a while now, sadly.
