From what i read in different articles on the net,the movie is supposed to be shot with motion capture technology the same way Avatar was shot.Did they use extensive make up for Avatar as well?

Nope. In mo-cap filming the actors wear body suits with sensors attached to record their movements, expressions, etc. Andy Serkis played a chimp in Rise of the Planet of the Apes but he's not an actual chimp nor did he wear a chimp-suit. 😆

I read somewhere that even Kat's character will be rendered via mo-cap. If everything will be animated then ultimately the ages of the actors don't really matter you know.
