Interview : Cool Saif donning his hot attitude!

Saif Ali Khan seems to be making his presence felt everywhere - be it in his films, endorsements and even the recent IIFA event held at Dubai. This dashing Khan is up his sleeves to charm with his take on the face attitude. After being down with a viral fever he has returned to work this week. And what is this we hear about some speculation about trouble in his relationship with Rosa. We talk to him about it, films and his rocking attitude.

Excerpts from a chat:

Why did you refuse Feroz Khan's Qurbani?

Yes I was offered the role. But I couldn't take it, as I just wanted to do one film at one time. I couldn't fit that film in. Refusing the film was not very easy to me. When I met Feroz Khan in Dubai, I apologized to him for not being a part of his film. Fardeen is also a good friend and I didn't wanted to spoil the relation. But now Siddharth Anand's film calls that I get devoted to it. This is the only film that I'm doing now.

How is the experience shooting for Siddharth Anand's film?

It's a film under Yashraj banner. So I'm not allowed to speak much about it. The film will be commercially viable. I get together to work with Siddharth and Rani Mukherjee and it is so much fun. Siddharth and I get back from 'Hum Tum'. I didn't have to ponder much if this was the right film for me when I bagged it. This guy wants me to work in all his films. That's a rare compliment for me.

You suffered recently from viral fever. How are you feeling now?

I've lost some weight due to it. But that's good because I had recently put on some weight. I need to get back into shape soon to be in gear. I am very competitive. I'm using my free time losing weight and keeping fit.

How much gung ho are you about Omkara?

Omkara was one film I didn't wanted to miss due to the language and script. It is something illicit and I like to do something such. There were apprehensions in the minds of people if I could carry the role. If I could speak the rustic language of UP and don such attitude. I've proved them wrong. It's not that I can only play the rich and spoilt brat. I can also do something out of the world, something that is contrary to my image. I want to prove that with this film.

How much Vishal Bharadwaj contributed in your scheme?

He was around for it. He brought the dialogues out of me. I used to jog in Switzerland listening his dialogues on my Walkman. This is one role for which I've prepared a lot. There are actors I've seen delivering the accent and attitude right and I thought why not me. But the going was very easy. It's not one such role where only clothes, makeup and lines need to be in place. I had to be wheezing singsong slick evil. I wasn't too comfortable with it. In Omkara I'm sexy in a different way.

Do you take the critics seriously?

It didn't matter to me when people or the critics said that I cannot play the male lead or that I'm best fitted as a comedian or the supporting actor.

Lastly Saif what's the news about some problem in personal front with Rosa?

I would just say that there's absolutely no trouble in my home. Rosa and I have no dispute over her decision to find work that gives her satisfaction. In fact, I've constantly encouraged and goaded her to do something outside our home. And now, when she's actually doing so, I'm completely one with her decision

What keeps Saif Ali Khan on toes these days?

Making my own decisions these days about money matters. I've never done that before and I feel so helpless about it. I'll be 35 in August so I need to get serious of my accounts.
