This is the most realistic serial on Indian television. I cannot praise the creators of this program enough.
These are everyday life events played out on screen. It was a bold step by CVs and everyone involved. It is excellent the way the different stories are being played out. I was really touched by Guarav's story, despite being a homosexual man he got married to a woman on his mother's request. He was afraid to come out of the closet due to the consequences of such a confession. There are so many men out there who are married to women, but still live a double life because they are scared of the reaction of their friends, family and society as a whole. I am happy that Maryada has touched this topic, the way devyani loved her son unconditionally and how she explained to Roshni Devi to accept her son the way he is. Unfortunately Vidya and her parents got hurt in the process. It is a shame that people cannot be who they want to without the interference of other people in their own society.
Devyani a devoted mother, wife, sister, MIL and DIL. For 30 years she was mentally abused by her husband. She was afraid of how society will react if she fought back, so she kept quiet as many women are doing. Their husbands will cheat, and disrespect them but they will not retaliate as they are afraid of the consequences. They don't want to lose respect and status in society and in the process lose their family. Some women spend a life time in this festering situation, only to die having never lived at all. Devyani got out but she's already aged, half of her life was wasted. Her identity was lost in Bhramanand Jhakar, now she has to find her self. These are cold hard facts of life.
I am happy Priya has decided to leave that house, her staying would not have been realistic. She was hurt and verbally abused by the person she loved most. How can she ever trust such a guy ever again? He never took the time to find out who the real Priya was. He does not understand true love. He forgot the vows he took when he married her. Aditya lacks the maturity to be a husband. He need to face reality and grow up, he's still a little boy trying to be a man. There are a lot of men like him out there whose priorities are misplaced.

This story keeps getting better everyday, I am now wondering why more people don't look at it.

Lovely post.
This show is definitely the most realistic on indian TV. and very entertaining. It just keeps on getting better.
After everything that has happened, Aditya is growing up, he has more responsibilty now and he can be responsible and mature if he wants to, remember the initial episodes. But he had to lose his love in the process, but i'm sure he'll get her back by gaining her trust.

I loved this show from the beginning and its getting even better now that the truth is out in the open, all the women have emerged from the darkness of a false existence and fought for justice and redemption.
Now I hope to see them find their own identities, all 4 of them and find happiness above all in being themselves. Maryada does not mean seeking acceptance by society and compromise by hiding ugly truths...true Maryada is self respect, loving and respecting oneself and only then can you be a complete human being!

I love Maryada too and love even better the positive comments about this show. This show has the correct balance between reality and actuality and more importantly is believable and potrayal of life as it really is here and now and in everyones today, past and future.

I am from a Caribbean Island where people are still hush, hush about a lot of the things portrayed on this serial. I am not Indian, but I am very fascinated by Indian culture and belief as I am with other cultures besides mines. Regardless of my background, I was able to relate to an Indian Serial because it was not about being of a certain culture or background it portrays things everyone can relate to no matter where they come from in the world. Maryada is crossing every boundary in society, be it race, or culture. It is well commendable what they are doing, as I said before more people should look at this program, it is reality.
