Mohan really is Megha's Dark Knight. He's not the obvious "angel with a halo" who has come into her life - but his constant intrusion into her routine is paving the way for Megha to gather the scattered pieces of her life, rediscover her lost bearings, and start afresh!
Symbolism was the USP of today's episode. We knew Megha was going to win - but how was going to matter. And what follows was going to matter too. Kudos to the writers for using a mere kite flying stint to mark the prelude of so much to come.
When Megha said itni ladaiyan haarne ke baad ye choti si jeet bhi bohot badi lag rahi hai - there was a glimpse of the girl she once was. A girl who wanted to compete, persevere, win, and revel in the honour. There was a determination about her, a determination that has been hugely dwindling in her real life - and once she did win, there was a satisfaction about her. Almost like the stake was not merely a kite flying match, but a point to be proven. And somewhere, even though she was "not going to lose to this man aka Mohan .. " the point she had to prove - a subconscious one - was simply winning. She wasn't flying to beat Mohan - she was flying to win herself, and enjoy that win. Two things she hasn't really sought for her own self in the longest time - to win, and to enjoy. Winning mattered all the more here, because kite flying is obviously something she connects so deeply and intricately with her late husband. Winning was essential to live up to his teaching, to show him she had proven herself for his sake, to live up to the record he had not allowed to be broken for a decade. And when she won, it was special - because somewhere inside of her, it wasn't she who had won alone, nor because she'd won for Vyas family either - but because this was a win for Amar, a testimony of how they could still be into things together, as a team, she in person, and him in lingering memories.
She held the victory so priceless, almost as if she held it symbolic of winning the bigger, more real battle for Amar and herself too - her fight to get her husband justice. Which then implies the point she had to prove by winning, was most to herself - and Amar - than anyone else at all. And when she did, the victor Megha was an image of the confident girl she had once been.
The other side of symbolism obviously concerns Mohan. The fact that he did not just let her win was so right for the MM track at this point. Megha did not need a sympathy win - and had Mohan "given" her the win without a proper fight, it would not been the victory she wished for, much less needed. Not that Mohan was aware of doing her this fair but indirect favour - but that's what Mohan's presence in her life has been all this time. He never really "intends" to be her angel - he just happens to become the means to her end anyway. Mohan being shocked at her win, even miffed like any typical boy who would hate to lose - that to a girl - was so natural. As for Megha, Amar's lesson and the whole flashback may have been the motivation behind her win - but without an opponent just like Mohan (someone she feels so strongly about not losing to!) there would be no match, no victory! Megha's moment of pride and confidence stems equally from both making Amar proud, and not losing to Mohan. So Mohan's loss inadvertently becomes the cause of a brief revival of the "real" Megha.
In a strange way that makes Mohan and Megha a team too. Mohan has to lose, to make Megha win. Mohan - despite his impulsive counters and all that - has been doing the losing in fact. He lost the chase on Koyal to Megha in their first encounter, and for a moment there, Megha, who was reeling from the pandit's harsh words about her husband was sufficiently distracted with "the loafer" 😆 The next time the collided in the street, even the frivolous Chanchal aunty stood up for Megha being a respected resident of the area, and warned Mohan. He lost face for no fault, but it was a brief moment of Megha finding herself backed up in a public showdown. All through Nanhi's search Mohan obviously bore the brunt of Megha's fluster, and she managed to have a pillar of support as composed and resourceful as him - without asking for, or even realizing! In time Megha's win will cease to concur with Mohan's loss - but for now, and perhaps for a while, it seems Mohan losing is imperative to Megha's revival.
While the kite flying may have been a mere "galli contest" somewhere it plays its part in Megha's momentary boost. The boost further goes on to play its part. Megha finally gathers her wits to go to Mohan's house - even if Nanhi has to play spokesperson. A job half done is better than none. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly at this point - Megha in a rare instance actually stands up for herself before her family. A pleasant surprise for me as a viewer, to witness Megha assert she was never wrong to have to apologize. To assure she would do her bit to support, but that it would not happen by the way of an apology. We know from the precap that she will succumb. [And Mohan will come to save the day for her *fangirl moment* eeeh!] But the fact that she stood up for a right point even briefly, is a step forward from the way she's just been submitting to the will of everyone else. And somewhere, subconsciously, it just comes from the momentary victorious feeling inside of her, with that trivial little kite flying win. Because it may have been just a match - but for Megha it was like a passing a test of faith and capability for Amar's sake. Beating Mohan was like cherry on the top 😆 And in a strange way, it returned within her with some inner semblance of peace and confidence that she has been desperately trying to seek out and hold on to through the tougher than usual situations the last few days.
The kite flying win is like her personal sneak peaking silver lining. And while Amar is directly responsible for it - Mohan's losing to her as an opponent, has been a brief moment of glory in her otherwise "fallen angel" status.
---
I could gush on and on about the precap - because it has come as such a relief. I can bet Mohan's rescue mission is going to put MM into yet another spot with potential for mutual fireworks - but that's why he's her dark knight 😆 Only yesterday I was being all fangirl and hoping Mohan would save the day for Megha. Seems like he will. Of course, its another matter there's no saving Mohan's day from Megha afterwards 😆
Supaa excited for tomorrow!!!
