MEANT TO BE
Riddhima looked at the huge building in front of her and sighed. Life has come full circle, she thought'..she was back in the same city, same routine, everything the same, still there was a stark difference between the riddhima who had left all this and the one who was back to fill in for her. All this becoz of a certain incident which had shook her life and made her into what she was today'.. "but that's how it is now'and nobody can change it'." She thought. She decided that she would not let all those painful memories taint her new life, her professional life. There would b enough time for all that once she was back to the confines of her room. Here she had to b someone else. She had to b Dr. riddhima gupta.
She was right'.this was indeed a sort of "new life" for her. She was finally selected for internship in her dream place''SANJEEVANI'.. and that because of her grades and not because her dad was the dean n one of the boardmembers. As soon as that thought crossed her mind she felt much lighter." At least there's something I can b proud of" she said to herself''the loud honking of a car behind her brought her out of her reverie'.finally muskaan was here and how! As soon as she saw her a small smile formed on riddhima's lips'..she was the reason that riddhima was here'she was the one who had convinced her to come back'.her best friend'her soul sister. Where her dad and di failed, muskaan was the one who was successful in blackmailing her to come back to sanjeevani for her internship. Infact, it was not at all a tight rope walk for muskaan coz she knew just the things to say to riddhima to blackmail her, she knew her in and out and why not? after all they had been together for as long as they cud remember'their mothers had been best friends and the two of them, taking after their mothers, had carried the tradition forward. Riddhima remembered to have hit it off instantly with muski'.she was a sweetheart'.
Finally realizing that they didn't have much time left for their briefing she took a deep breath and willed herself to do this for the ones who loved her'her dad , her di, muski, tara aunty and''.her mum. As she neared muskaan's car she realized the reason for her maddening honking. A man had hit his scooter into her car and going by the look on his face was more than sorry for what he had landed himself into, for muskaan was shouting abuses at him in all the languages she knew. People around them were stupefied looking at the Punjabi swear machine in front of them, some of them even had their mouths hanging open. Riddhima was trying her level best to calm her down but muskaan was not ready to listen to anything at all. She was left with no other option than to shut her mouth with her hand to stop her from shouting her lungs out at the poor thing and put some sense in her pea-sized brain.
At long last they were finally making their way through the corridors to make it on time for their first ever briefing. "first day n we are already almost late, I'm so proud of us ridzi!" but riddhima didn't find this remotely amusing. "shut up, muski!" was all she managed while they were running like maniacs. All they knew was that they had to report to some Dr.keerti. riddhima only remembered the name faintly'.she used to come to sanjeevani as a kid with her dad and dream of working here one day. She had heard of dr. keerti from her dad n might hav met her once or twice too but didn't remember her that much. While she was thinking all this both of them reached room no. 201 on the second floor, just as the wardboy they had asked had told them. They looked at their watches and prayed for their lives. Finally gathering some courage they knocked at the door, when they didn't get any reply they considered running away but as the door opened slowly they sighed in relief. They entered to find the chairs empty and turned around to see who had let them in. "we're sorry, I think we made a mistake,we thought this was dr.keerti's cabin,lets go muskaan",riddhima apologized to the man in front of them andturned towards muskaan who appeared to be lost somewhere. That's when she heard "no, actually this is dr.keerti's cabin only, I'm waiting for her too. Infact, I was waiting for all of you, hii I'm rahul and I'm an intern and I suppose you two are also." "oh! Hi rahul, I'm riddhima and this is my friend muskaan."
Just as muskaan was about to open her mouth, dr.keerti entered the cabin and went directly to the chair behind her desk. "good morning doctors, I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long. There was an emergency." before any of them could wish her a courteous good morning she started calling their names.
"dr. grewal?",
"yes mam"
"dr. gupta?"
"yes mam."
"dr. chaddha?"
"present mam!"
"dr. malhotra?"

"dr. mallik?"

"Do any of you have an idea as to why drs. Malhotra and mallik did not care to be on time?"
"no mam!" all three of them said it in unison.
At that precise moment the door behind them opened and two ppl entered dr. keerti's room. One of them a short but very pretty girl and another a tall and handsome guy with a tattoo. riddhima was scanning the new arrivals and as soon as she reached the face of the guy( who was standing with his head slightly bowed bcs dr. keerti was giving him and the girl with her a piece of her mind regarding punctuality) her mouth fell open. She was shocked beyond her wits. She could not believe her eyes! For a minute her heart gave a flutter and her mouth broke into a wide smile but another moment, all the bitter memories of past came flooding into her mind without warning and she was reminded of something that drowned her in greif.
While riddhima was lost in her own world muskaan was watching her and could not understand the reason for her weird behavior, one moment she appeared to be drooling over this dr mallik(as dr. keerti addressed him) and the next moment she seemed to hate him but not quite so'..
Meanwhile dr.keerti was done giving all her interns her lecture and didn't think it wise to waste even a single moment more so she advised them to interact among themselves and come to know each other for a while as they had to work together for the coming two years and left them in her cabin saying that a senior doc, dr.atul joshi would be seeing them in half an hour to give them a thorough tour of the hospital and explain them the rules and other important things.
As soon as dr. keerti left the cabin all the interns breathed a sigh of relief. Rahul went ahead and introduced himself first.
"hi'..i'm rahul."
The man with the tattoo replied, "hey rahul'..i'm armaan ." and they shook hands.
The girl standing next to her also shook rahul's hand "hi'I'm nikita'..but u guys can call me nikki'.all my freinds call me."
With that nikki moved to meet the girls who were standing behind rahul'.
While nikki as talking to muskaan about how rude dr. keerti was armaan's eyes fell on the girl standing next to the both of them'..
For a moment he thought he was imagining things but as soon as he heard her voice, all his doubts were removed''..after all this time she was finally standing in front of him''..but there was something definitely amiss''.
"hi'" she said.
As soon as he heard this he felt a gentle smile making its way to his lips'.
"hey basket!!!!! Finally I'm seeing u after all this while!!!! How are you???and where have you been???"
The rest, all three of them towards them'
"do you guys know each other?"rahul asked.
"ofcourse man, we were'"before armaan could complete riddhima cut him"classmates''we were in the same med school for two years'..dats how we know each other'." She treid to give a shaky smile to armaan but failed miserably''.
Armaan felt disappointed
Amidst all this realization struck muskaan and nikki suddenly and they were looking from armaan to riddhima and back to armaan with fear and anxiety''''.
