Sorry but I still dont agree. Not every household makes comparisons especially broadminded and people who care for others feelings, and EVEN if they do, they know better than to say it out loud to others' faces. What a great way to welcome the new bahu- compare her to noone but THE girl who everyone wanted dhruv to marry. It shows nothing but the pettiness of peoples' minds. And if you say its inevitable, still doesnt mean its alright to do so. Why should have antara tried to prove herself better than siya? She is a new member of the family and has a right to have everyone's love and respect. She has her own personality, her own mind, so why try to prove herself better than anyone else? Not everyone is alike, if Siya has her good qualities, Antara does too. And just because Antara is outspoken and liberal doesnt mean she didnt try to mingle with the family. She did try hard, by helping kumkum, by being so close to ashka, meera, and sharman. Its another thing if everything she tried to do in good spirit turned out to be so negative with others. Also, NO MATTER how bold or liberal or educated or "americanized" a woman is, the fact remains that she is a WOMAN. Being liberal does not changes one to be possessive about who she loves. Besides, the household practically drove her to the point. Being all modern might change one's views but not feelings.
I never said or meant that comparisons are alright.. ofcourse no one likes to be compared. Comparisons are only drawn when the person does not live upto certain expectations.. Agreed that Dadi & Veena's expectations were way too much.. they never gave Antara the time.. but what about Kumkum, who supported & defended her every single time? Antara never lived upto even the minutest expectations.. Even the most liberal & broadminded people in the world have certain expectations.. thats natural!
And in what way has Antara helped Kumkum? Had she helped KK..nothing of the sort would've happened..
Its good to have one's own personality & mind.. best when its in tandem with others, especially one's own family. One doesn't have to prove better than another..but atleast prove your own worth! Unfortunately, Antara didn't do that.. neither did she make any efforts. Everytime Kumkum tried explaining her something..she had this 'I'm right..rest of the world is wrong' stand.. Sorry, but Antara has been rude throughout.. she has this 'I, Me, Myself' attitude, which obviously doesn't gel well with the family!
