Aamir Khan’s family ‘distressed by brother Faissal’s hurtful and misleading’ remarks, issue clarification

Aamir Khan’s family has issued a rare public statement addressing recent comments made by Faissal Khan, describing his portrayal of personal matters as both “hurtful” and “misleading.” The statement names Aamir’s mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, sister Nikhat Hegde, and Aamir himself as being misrepresented in Faissal’s version of events.

The response, signed by several members of the extended Khan family, comes in the wake of interviews where Faissal recalled private incidents involving his relatives. According to the statement, this is “not the first time” he has presented events inaccurately, prompting the family to set the record straight. “We are distressed by Faissal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” the statement reads.

The family stressed that decisions concerning Faissal have always been taken collectively, in consultation with multiple medical experts, and guided by concern for his wellbeing. “It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family,” the statement continues.

In addition, the Khans urged the media to show restraint and empathy while reporting on the matter, asking publications not to sensationalise or exploit a sensitive situation. “We request the media for empathy, and to refrain from turning a private matter into salacious, inflammatory and hurtful gossip,” the family appealed.
