The beauty with which you've brought out the emotions in this chapter is incredible! Dadi's explanation was pretty convincing and Maan's pain was equally touching. It would be interesting to see how Geet mends Maan's shattered soul.

Maan has a very complex nature in this FF and I am trying to balance his pain and yearning for companionship. Please do let me know if you feel the balance is right or if it can be improved.

Abby – Wow….I loved your in-depth analysis and the poem. Just Beautiful. His pain and loneliness is palpable and you captured it wonderfully.

Payalpari – Yes, I will lift some scenes like the one you mentioned from the movie. There are few more things which will show how much Geet cares for him in her own way.

Anu –what to do Anu, I started writing and parts kept on getting stretched. But this FF will be different from my previous one in the sense, there is only one plot. So pace will be faster.

Piggy – Yes dear, it will full on emotional atyachaar…lekin Geet hai na….her effervescence is not going to reduce. She is a fighter. As you know my heroines are always smart and strong. In a way I am feminist and I truly believe that girls should maintain their individuality.

Ajenn –Your siggy is from Vivah movie. Sorry that I have killed your Amrita yaar. I wanted to highlight that Maan agreed for this and Daadi did not force him. It is a very important part of the story.

Music_girl – I will try my best dear. I have given English translations for this update. It is just issue of time but will try my best to give the translations.

Nilam, Mina –Yes, Maan is pragmatic but it is not easy to fight your ingrained emotions and demons either. Daadi did not force anything on him but showed him the true mirror of life.

Punam2712 – I have not given how she died yet. Just that she is no more. Poonam's death will be detailed in further chapters.

As to your question is it fair to Geet. Well I will try my best to show that Geet had her own reasons to marry Maan. Also my heroines can never be weak. She will have the full decision power.

Daadi truly wants a girl who will care for her grandson. Also Maan will be fully convinced at the time of saying "Yes" that he is ready to move on. You will read his thought process where he will feel that he can be a good husband.

I agree though it is very hard to balance conflicting emotions. I hope I am able to do justice in upcoming chapters.

Drdee –As I mentioned in the start, Geet will have many faces in this FF. She is a very mature but fun loving girl. I am sure you will be surprised when you hear about her career choice. It is also very close to my heart, because I thought about it but did not have courage like her.

Chapter 4

Guys, I have given English translations for those who find reading Hindi difficult. But please read in Hinglish if you can for better feel of emotions.

Two months later

Handa Haveli

Gee pouted in front of mirror and complained to her Babaji – "Dekha aapne Babaji….Mujhe…Geet Handa ko koi dekhne aa raha hai. Bauji ko pata hai mein arranged marriage nahi karoongi phir bhi."

["Did you see Babaji….Me…Somebody is coming to see me - Geet. Dad knows that I will not do arranged marriage still…."]

She threw the hair brush at the dresser in anger – "Nahi jaaongi mein unhe chode ke kisi aise insaan ke ghar jisse mein pyaar tak nahi karti. Mein bhi dekhti hoon is Maan Singh Khurana ko. Iski toh…woh haal karungi ki shaadi ke khwaab hi bhul jayega"

["No, I will not leave him and go with a person whom I don't even love. I will also see this Maan Singh Khurana…I will make his state so miserable that he will forget about marriage even in his dreams"]

Rahul who was watching her from the door came inside and hugged her from back – "Kyon gussa kar rahi hai princess. Aur waise bhi ismein bechare Maan ki kya galti hai. Dekh uski Daadi ma ne Bauji se kaha toh unki respect ke khatir woh mana nahi kar paye. Aur Bauji ne kaha hain na tujhse ki koi jaldi ya zabardasti nahi hai. Unhone to Daadima se bhi keh diya hai ki you are not interested in marriage. But still she insisted that let the kids meet once"

"Aur waise bhi, milne mein kya jaata hai. Papa ne tujhe milne ke liye kaha hai, shaadi ke liye toh nahi. Mil le aur phir hum keh denge ki abhi humein shaadi nahi karni. Baat khatam"

"Tu tension na le…tujhe pata hai na we all love you so much and nothing will be done without your wish…hmmm"

["Why are you being so angry princess? And moreover, what is poor Maan's fault in all this? See his daadima talked to Dad and he is doing this out of respect for her. Also Dad told you that there is no pressure. He has even told daadima that you are not interested in marriage. But still she insisted that let the kids meet once"

"And moreover, what is the harm in meeting. Dad has asked you to meet him not marry him. Just meet and then we will say that we don't marriage now. Matter closed."

"Don't take tension….you know we all love you so much and nothing will be done without your wish…hmmm"]

Geet smiled at his brother's words. "Thik hai…Papa ne mujhse bhi kaha tha but agar woh over smart banne ki koshish karega na toh phir mujhe kuch mat kehna"

["Ok…Papa also told me that but if he tries to be over smart then don't say anything to me"]

Rahul chuckled – "Over smart aur Geet Handa ke saamne, marna hai kya?"

["Over smart and in front of Geet Handa, he wants to die or what?"]

Maan reflected on his decision one last time as they approached Handa Haveli. He had spent better half of last week talking to Poonam's picture and asking her if she understood that he was not cheating on her. If she understood that he was scared of the loneliness which engulfed him without her. If she understood expectations of his family members.

He will never know the answers but in his heart he knew his Poonam. She lost herself for people she loved, for her sister. She loved him too and she would have never stood in the way of his happiness.

But is this where his happiness lied?

Tanhaaiyon se kar li hai dosti,
Dard ban gaya hai sahara,
Na aas hai bachi zindagi se koi,
Na khuda se maangi hai dua koi.

He had thought a lot about what his grandmother had said and somewhere he agreed with her. He still wasn't sure though that will he ever be able to love? But he had agreed with himself that he will try to be a good husband. Maybe a good friend who will fulfill all his duties. Physical part of the relationship was probably the easiest; after all he was a man with his own needs.

His status and financial position will ensure she gets all the comforts and respect. He was a little worried about emotional connection but it should be fine till he can be friendly and provide for her needs.

After all he was Maan Singh Khurana and he was aware of his effect and power on women. It should not be difficult. Also once they have kids, it should get easier. She will be busy with her duties as elder daughter-in-law and mother too.

Also, he was a busy man and his work should provide him the solitude and peace which he may loose by invasion of his private space.

Maan broke out of his reverie as car stopped in front of Handa Haveli. He inspected the house in front of him. It was grand and though was similar to KM in size but was built in a different Jaipuri style in red stone. He could not help but wince at the comparison his memory threw at him when he had gone to meet Poonam for the first time.

She stayed in a simple house located in a busy street of a small town. But the love and warmth which exuded from that house was much deeper than the grandeur of any house. In simple terms it was home.

Daadima nudged him to enter the house as they were greeted by Mohinder and Rano Handa. Maan walked inside with Daadima, Dev, Meera and Vicky without noticing two pairs of eyes watching him from the balcony.

Geet saw Maan as he walked inside along with his family. She had seen many handsome men in her life who have tried best to flirt with her. But it was more than his handsome features and muscular body which had attracted her to observe him. It was his confidence, style and attitude which oozed out of him even at that distance.

Geet turned and banged into Rahul who was standing right behind her. She fell back on the bed and chirped keeping hand on her heart- "Hayee…mar jawaan gud khake…kina sona gabru jawan munda hai"

["Oh God….I will die happily….he is such a handsome young man"]

Rahul grinned ear to ear – "Oh really…am I hearing correctly….Geet Handa impressed by a man"

Geet sat with a jerk and smirked– "Sach Rahul. Did you see him. Kya style hai. Kuch toh baat hai jo mujhe…Geet Handa ko impress kar diya. You know how handsome and cool guys run around me but for the first time, "I" actually feel like talking to someone"

["Truly Rahul. Did you see him? What style. There is definitely some thing in him that…he managed to impress Geet Handa. You know how rich and cool guys run around me but for the first time, "I" actually feel like talking to someone"]

Rahul sat beside her and pulled a stray hair behind her ear. He was no more smiling and looked serious – "Lekin Geet tujhe pata hai na, marriage is much more than style, attitude and good looks. I am happy that at least you are ready to meet him but josh mein hosh mat kho na"

["But Geet, you know that marriage is much more than style, attitude and good looks. I am happy that at least you are ready to meet him but don't loose sanity in your enthusiasm."]

Geet looked at her brother and burst out laughing. She pulled his cheeks "Tune mujhe bachi samjha hai. Are mein toh bas tareef kar rahi thi kyonki woh tareef layak hai. Iska matlab yeh nahi ki maine haan kar di hai. As I said, I don't believe in arranged marriage. Shaadi toh mein usi se karoongi jis se mein pyaar karoongi…samjhe"

["Do you think I am a kid? I was just praising because he deserves to be praised. This doesn't mean I am saying yes. As I said, I don't believe in arranged marriage. I will only marry the person I love…understood"]

Rahul – "Aww…Uiii…kya kar rahi hai…dard hota hai Geetu"

Just then Rano called them and both of them went downstairs to meet Maan

Meanwhile Maan was pleasantly surprised by Handas. He always trusted his daadi ma and once again he was impressed by her judgment. He could feel that though they were big businessmen, they were very down to earth and warm people. Rano Aunty was very simple and her simplicity and sweetness reminded him of her own mother.

Mohinder Uncle was very affectionate and soft spoken and clearly in love with his family. Even small things like how casually the cushions were placed, photographs and paintings on the walls exuded the love and happiness this home witnessed.

But suddenly there was a new excitement and vibration in the room. He noticed Vicky running and hugging a girl who was escorted by another boy.
