Audiences lap up mature romances

Audiences lap up mature romances

The winds of change that started blowing over Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kuch To Log Kahenge six months ago seem to be turning into quite a gale in 2012, with most channels looking at exploring mature love stories in-depth. After the launch of Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha on Colors a fortnight ago, Zee will exploit the genre with Punar Vivaah next month. As the title suggests, the story will deal with the dynamics of a remarriage between a divorcee and widower. Kratika Sengar, who played the warrior queen, Rani Laxmibai in Jhansi Ki Rani, will play the single mother, Smriti and Gurmeet Chaudhary as Siddharth, will be seen as the widower with a child. Punar Vivaah is produced by writers-turned-producers, Shashi and Sumeet Mittal of the Diya Aur Baati Hum fame.

Thanx for the article tanu.
@Swetha: The article is saying that another show of the same genre which means concept is the similar but it is not comparing the two shows. There is a difference between the two things.

I think what's interesting to note is that all these "mature" romances so to speak still need a general dose of saas-bahu crap in order to really generate TRPs...BALH being the best example of the "wave of change" as this article puts it...the only thing that's changed is that the leads are older in age...the rest of it is maha pakaau ghisa pitaaa Kekta-fied crap...the maturity is merely in the age on paper...not in the THINKING of the writers.

Na bole tum has started off well but it too has enough of the taunting in-laws and 'bechari' vidhwa stuff...cuz I guess that is the only thing that really brings in TRPs.

And this Punar Vivaah show toh even SOUNDS mega regressive from it's very title only.

Mature Romance I am sorry to say where is the maturity in BALH or KTLK ...or are they meaning mature just by the age of the lead protagonist ...cause I find the leads in both the mentioned shows highly immature when it cums to their behavioural pattern ...Na Bole def has its share of plusses which makes it look diff as of now ...it has the ingredients which are typical but then cant blame them for having those ...cuz they have to survive ...and atleast Na bole looks mature ..cause the leads act their age atleast and ...are not def shown to be retarded ...this just my opinion n i mean no offence to the viewers of the above shows ...I apologize before hand if i hurt anyones sentiments

Dear rd, I agree that so called mature protagonist in both BALH or KTL sometime behave irresponsibly, but since when maturity become the prerogative of persons of some age! I thing the article appraise about efforts being made to target understanding love and life even at the age when socially one thinks is the end of it.

thanks for sharing that...

but still would prefer them not comparing the two shows...
or probably they are bringing in the comparison because the the other show in context will be taking up the 10.30 slot on ZEE which would bring it in direct competition with NBTNMKK

I don't understand what is mature romance. Only thing that matters to me is whether i'm liking the show or not and this show has worked for me.

total agree with you

jab dil miley ...phir age, sakal surat...stastus,ye sab ceeze koi se koi farak padta nahi.

it's call nature sab ka nature yaha alag alag he...chahe vo same age ke ho ya phir nahi ho.
