In 21 st January 1998, SET and Fireworks launched a weekly crime thriller called CID.The series is regarded as the longest running crime investigation TV series in India. The first investigative series on Indian Television, is today one of the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television. CID the longest running show in the history of Indian television has set high standards for all future programs of this genre to come. It is a laborious effort of years by Fireworks Production, Mr. BP Singh, Mr.Pradeep Uppoor and their team of actors, writers and production.
Now, CID is celebrating its 14th year of uninterrupted run and still going strong! The charm of CID to the viewers are increasing day by day.Though the few members were changed but the major casts, key members & technical team remain same through this long journey.

Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman 1998-presentA complete no-nonsense cop, ACP Pradyuman is the head of C.I.D. He lives by the saying 'Duty comes first'. He believes that duty comes above everything else and proves this by killing Nakul, his own son, a criminal. Not a single criminal, no matter how clever, has managed to outwit him for a long time. He is a master investigator and a tough boss. He expects perfection from his team, cares for them, but when it comes to work, he treats them with an iron hand. However, he shows genuine concern and is affectionate towards his officers.
Aditya Srivastava as Senior Inspector Abhijeet 1999-presentSr. Insp. Abhijit is a tough cop, who believes in outthinking criminals. In the absence of ACP Pradyuman, he is the leader. He is considered to be one of the best, intelligent and honest officers in the C.I.D. team. He is also the best shooter in C.I.D. and can shoot with his eyes closed by only hearing the sound. He is a close friend of his colleague, Senior Inspector Daya.
Dayanand Shetty as Senior Inspector Daya 1998-presentDaya is a very integral part of the C.I.D team. Apart from using his amazing investigative skills, he also uses his muscle power from time to time to subdue criminals. One of the smartest officers and often risks his life to save Abhijeet.
Originally he joined the team as a Sub-Inspector. He won the award for the best looking guy on Indian Television in 2002.
Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks (Freddy) 1998-presentJoined the team as Sub-Inspector. He had a serious role to play from 1998 to 2005 but has been playing comic role since then. He is a soft-hearted person.
Apart from these 4 people ... CID has showcased Immense talent with some really excellent actors being a part of this show making it a must watch throughout these 14 years and still continuing strong !!!

CID made it to the Limca and Guiness Book Of Records on 7th Nov. 2004 for C.I.D. 111/Inheritence, a 111 minutes episode that was shot in one single take without a single cut !!
In 2002, Dayanand Shetty aka Sr.Insp.Daya of CID won the award for the most handsome guy on Television !!!
Along with that in 2002 itself CID won the award for the best continuing serial at the ITA awards
and also Mr.Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman won the Best Actor Award at ITA !!
Mr.Satam sir continued the winning streak again in 2003.
The show has continuously won the best Thriller award at the ITA from 2002 till 2011 !!
