Nihira's concert
Before I begin, I would like to say that I had the best seats in the house for this observation-I was in the last row. People in the front were not able to enjoy as much because the sound was too loud there. We had the perfect volume up in the last row.
The concert began with the host coming out-Shakil Ansari. He was amusing throughout the concert (some jokes were funny) and helped keep it going.
Nihira! She sang Kya Janu Sajan and Dum Maro Dum. Dum maro dum she sang beautifully (as usual😊 ). She was great and the crowd loved her.
Then came Parthiv Gohil. I had seen him in SaReGaMa, so I knew how well he sings. I was not disappointed. He sang really, really well. The first song he sang was Man Mohini, from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Awesome! And then he did this gujrati style alap and sang Albela Sajan Ayo Re. This number brought the crowd to its feet (standing ovation! The only one in the whole concert), clapping and screaming, "Once More!". He did not sing it again though, because he did not want other songs to be cut.
Of course, the one left was Himani. I must say, she sang better than I expected her to. Her performance was enjoyable and I had fun listening to her. She sang a medley of Yeh hai Reshmi and Aao Huzur Tumko. Then she sang her all famous, Jiya Dhadak. She put this in a medley with Lagi Tumse Man Ki Lagan. It was good.
Then came the duets. My favorite one was the one with Nihira and Parthiv. They did a medley of songs in the Yaman Kalyan raag. The song changes and the singing was superb. The medley included such songs like Who Jab Yaad Aye, Nam Gum Jayega, Re Man Sur Me Ga, Kahi Deep Jale Aana and many more beautiful songs.
The other duet was, of course, Parthiv and Himani. They sang Mere Haath Mein from Fanaah. It was ok.
After that the singers went to change and Ansari did a little comedy stunt. Amusing.
Finally, Himani came out again. She sang Raat Akeli Hai, Maeri Main Kasi Kahu, Lagja Gale, and Aao Na Gale Lagao Na. Good singing and performance.
Then came Parthiv. What a great, great performance. He first sang Jhanak Jhanak, and then did a medley of songs like: Laga Chunri Main Daag, Pritam Aan Milo, Bachpan Ki Mohabat Ko, Roja Janeman, and many others. Beautiful. Extraordinary.
Nihira again: she sang Chupke Se (she sang a little part in tamil as well), Aaj Jane Ki Zid Na Karo (awesome!), the song from Alag (great!), Dhadak Dhadak. One thing about Nihira's performance-Himani and Parthiv ended their performances with very fast songs that really excited the crowd. When Nihira came on stage and sang her first two songs she calmed and soothed the crowd down, the transformation was amazing. You need a really brilliant singer to be able to do that to a crowd like that-and all three did their parts very well.
Then Nihira and Himani did Duma Dum Mast Kalander. They did some alaps in the middle and they were on the spot. They were soo great (I am using this word a lot, I know), Nihira did classical and Himani did western. Still they were good together and you could tell they were having a lot of fun.
In the end, Parthiv sang Na Jane Kabse Ummede Bakhi Hai. This was also a great performance.
Then they all got on the stage and sang Mile Sur Mera Tumhara.
All in all, I loved the performances and I could see a real change in Nihira. She was no longer as sehmi si as she was in SRGMP Challenge. She was really having fun on stage- she even danced a little. Parthiv was great and I really wish I could listen to his voice a lot more. Himani was also good, and I enjoyed her a lot more live, I must say.
