seriously am lovinggg your total fantasy aspect...

UVeer is totally confident, sarcastic and dreamy - & even in this alternate universe, you've kept all the characters relative to their personality ..which is so awesome! Loving the last line of this part, oh the mystery. can't wait to read more 😊

Bodyguard? Hm, I totally see why you would make the people offer him that job. ;D

I LIKE IT! :) Not a lot has happened yet, and it would be UNJUST (Gosh, I feel so dramatic every time I say that word. Blame Henry V, okay? Anyways, I digress...) for me judge it yet, but I think that I'll like it. :))

Plus, the storyline and the plot is different. Uday isn't royalty, and I would love to see how you play these characters out! But I think you'll do a GREAT job!

It's update time! 😆 Now I am starting to wonder whether anyone reads this chota font wala message or not 😕 But oh well, I can't help taking up this uper wala space for my very useless talks. Well like always, thanks for the more than generous and beautiful comments! 🤗 And again, hit the "Like" button if you want to be PMed about the next update!

Chapter 3

Uday stood in the huge hall room of the palace, staring at the man who was, well, 'checking him out'.

"So, you're Uday Thakkar? Jainandini's "bodyguard" I presume?" the young man asked him suspiciously. Uday nodded with a smile as the man raised his right eyebrow.

"Don't you have a tongue in your mouth?" The question was rather unexpected for Uday.

"Yes, I do." The man who was a little short than him but looked a little older, definitely had the authority. And no matter how much attitude Uday had, he hadn't forgotten that he was only a "bodyguard"; a mere servant.

"It's good that you do, it'd be better if you use it at appropriate times." The man smiled. His smiled reminded Uday of someone.

"Yes, sir. I will keep that in mind." Uday gave his head a slight bow and smiled in returned. The man, however, laughed.

"Gosh! Baba was right about you. You are different." The man said laughing and extended his hand. "My name is Vijay and everyone calls me that. No sirs and your highness for me, save that for the royals." Vijay winked at the end of his hand. Uday shook Vijay's hand.

"So Uday, you ready for your job?" Vijay asked friendly when he let go of Uday's hand.

"Oh yes. I just took a tour of the palace. Must say it's a very beautiful place." Uday looked around, impressed by the classy interior of the palace. Vijay just shrugged.

"Of course, what else would you expect from a palace?"

"True, but money and status can't always buy class." Uday said wisely. Vijay laughed at his comment.

"Ah hah! You do know how to use your words Uday." Vijay nodded, impressed. Uday raised an imaginary hat and took a bow.

"Now, back to business. You've familiarized yourself with the palace right? Not that you'd have to go around doing the chores but these girls! You never know where they rush off to." Vijay, who had started the sentence very seriously, ended up mumbling the last words. The expression on his face clearly said that he was displeased at some memory.

"Ye hum ne aap se tou expect nahin kiya tha Vijay!" A feminine voice came from behind them. Uday looked around curiously and saw a young girl with long hair looking at Vijay with raised eyebrows. Vijay's gulp was so loud, Uday heard it very clearly.

"Aap?" Vijay tried to force a smile but he had clearly not expected this situation, the sweat drops on his forehead told Uday many things.

"Ji hum." She started walking towards them but didn't say anything to Vijay. Instead, she turned towards Uday and smiled.

"Aap zarur J ke naye bodyguard honge? Hi! I'm Unnati." The girl's voice was full of life and so friendly; Uday had rarely heard an affectionate tone like that. Even though she looked clearly within his target age group, not for once did he have any kind of pull towards her.

"Hello." Uday smiled from his heart at the girl. He was pleasantly surprised to see her eyes light up.

"Hayye! You're so sweet! Lekin aap aise J ke samne mat smile kijiye ga, wo dil ke mamle mein thori kachi hain." She winked at the end and laughed for no apparent reason.

"I'll keep that in mind." Uday couldn't help but laugh along the lovely girl. Vijay was apparently forgotten by both of them.

"So, ye bodyguard hone se pehle app kya karte the?" She asked while pushing some strands of her long hair away from her face.

"Umm..I used to-" before Uday could finish, Vijay gave a huge and obviously fake cough.

"Okay you two!! Enough chit chat!! Unnati, aap yahan kuch kam se ayen theen? And Uday, off you go! J's in the garden hall on the left! Go!" Vijay literally pulled back Unnati and gave Uday one dangerous look. Uday took it as his cue to leave. Smiling slightly, he turned around to find his way to the garden hall.

"Wait, is he going from the front?" Vijay, who was so busy in giving Unnati "the looks", finally registered Uday's exit in mind and stopped.

"Uh..we should stop him." Unnati bit her lower lip with a worried expression. Vijay scratched his forehead and shook his head.

"No can do, wo tou ja chuka hai."

"Ab? I like him!" Unnati pouted a little.

"Let's hope for the best." Vijay sighed and rubbed Unnati's arm affectionately. Unnati, forgetting her worry, looked at Vijay's hand on her arm and hit it.

"Ouch!" Vijay rubbed his hand as Unnati walked away angrily.

Uday stood outside the door of the hall. He took a deep breathe and gave his clean shirt an unnecessary tug to make it presentable. Finally, he was going to meet the person who was the reason of this sudden roller coaster in his life.

Giving the door a push, he walked in. It did strike him as strange that there was no one standing at the door like rest of the rooms of the palace. But he couldn't ponder upon it for long; as soon as he entered and took a few steps in the hall an arrow whooshed passed him, missing his face by mere centimeters.

He stood there, momentarily shocked at this unexpected welcome. But he gained control of his state in a few moments.

"Good shot!" A man roared and clapped enthusiastically. Uday looked as the king stood up from his chair and gave the girl who had just shot the arrow an affectionate one-arm hug.

"Oh my God! Jiji!" Uday looked as the young princess got up from her chair and rushed towards him.

"Hey, you okay?" She asked him with a worried expression on her face.

"I'm fine." Uday said in a small voice and smiled. He turned his attention to the rest of the royals who were looking at him like he was some sort of a strange rabbit.

Uday recognized the queen, Dr.Shiv and the king. But the girl who had shot the arrow and a woman were still strangers to him.

"Hey, let's go." Princess J tugged at his arm and gave him an indication to follow her. Uday's eyes were still on the girl with the bow, who was staring at him with a bored expression as he followed J towards the royals.

He felt the gazes of all the servants who were present there on him but he kept on walking straight behind the princess. He saw Dr.Shiv whisper something in Rajmata's ear and she nodded.

"I think that'd be enough for the day. Komal, Brijraj; we should get going." Rajmata smiled at Uday and nodded at her son. The king, who was looking at Uday in a very disapproving manner, nodded and walked behind his mother out of the hall. The lady, who seemed to be the king's wife, followed Rajmata and the men out of the hall before giving J a pat on the cheek.

"That...was close." J sighed as the elder people and a few servants left the hall. The other girl was still standing with a bow in her hand; she had picked another arrow to shoot.

"Yeah, it was. I almost missed the target." The girl said and aimed the arrow at the wall which was, Uday noticed, painted with many concentric circles. No doubt it was used for target practice.

"No, I mean you almost hit him!" J huffed and sat on her previously occupied chair. The girl put down her bow and turned around.

"Aaah meri gurya! Abhi se apne naye khilone ke liye itni possessive." She gave out a very fake laugh and sat beside J. Uday just stood there and stared as the girl continued to ignore his presence.

She wasn't the most beautiful girl in the world, this much was very easy for him to decide. She was at least a head shorter than him and at least four-five years older than J. Her brown hair reached her shoulders and she was dressed in casual jeans and a top, unlike J who was wearing a very stylish dress. She definitely wasn't worth his attention.

"Itna kya akarti hai? I'd only give her 4/10. That too out of pity." Uday thought and mentally rolled his eyes.

"Anyway, main chali. Unnati agayi hogi. Tum apne naye khilone ke saath khel lo. Let's see how long your interest lasts." She stood up and kissed J on the cheek. J pouted at her last words but nodded and picked up a glass of juice to drink.

The girl passed by Uday without giving him any look of acknowledgement. Not that Uday bothered. He very pointedly rolled his eyes and smiled at J.

"You mess with her, and I kill you." The girl whispered with her back turned towards Uday. Uday's smile deepened.

"I'll look forward to that." Uday whispered back, his smile turning into a smirk.

"Do you honestly have a death wish?" He could hear the contempt in her voice.

"My wishes are often deadly." He replied calmly.

"Sometimes wishes do come true." The contempt was getting clearer by each second.

"I hope you're the one who fulfills this wish of mine." Uday turned around and wasn't surprised to see her staring at him. He gave her a wink and walked towards J who had finished her drink.

Seriously, it's a very bad way to end the chapter. Meh...
