I should have done it long ago: Ekta Kapoor
It was a scare that filmmaker Ekta Kapoor says she will remember all her life. One of her acquaintances came up to her and said that she felt a lump in her B****.
"I couldn't sleep properly that night. All along I was haunted by the fact that she might have got cancer. Thankfully, the lump turned out to be benign, but then I thought of all the women who are suffering because they don't have any idea about it," says Ekta.
The soap queen, who has some of the most on-demand shows on national television, says that she hit upon a unique idea for women who are not aware about B**** cancer. "I have decided that I will use all my soaps to promote B**** cancer awareness. I have a powerful medium and I thought I should be utilising it to promote awareness about cancer," she adds.
Ekta says that she is very well aware that this is the first time that an initiative like this is being taken up on television. "Initially I will be using my flagship soap (Bade Achhe Lagte Hain) to promote awareness. I will be borrowing from my experience and I will show the lead protagonist (Sakshi Tanwar) having a B**** cancer scare. I will also try to show how the scare brings the lead couple closer to each other. Gradually, I will take the cause to my other TV shows," she says.
Ekta also reveals that she is least bothered about other TV shows picking up the concept."Oh! I want others to pick it up from me. After all, this is one thing that we should have been doing long back. I am also surprised that I didn't do it myself earlier. Better late than never," she adds.
