So - onto what I loved about this, and the Production House's way of handling things:
Before I go on - I applaud them for not rushing through the emotions too quickly given the drop dead date they have. I know things have sped up, like the confrontation we saw, but atleast not at the cost of losing the emotions. Many serials show reconciliations, forgiveness, divorce, etc speed by and the following episodes have no trace of any left over emotions. Which is NOT how it is in real life. This show has always kept close to how things are in reality, and is continuing to do so - hats off.
The first thing I liked was the 'thappar'. Who wouldn't. So deserving, seriously. But what I loved was the fact that Dev hit Adi. Not Priya, not anyone else, but the son who SHE has shielded from all of this. She took the blame of Gaurav's marriage, she live with someone like SSP, she put up with Uttara's cheating, all that FOR her sons, and although Gaurav has understood and supported her, Adi has always favored his father. And she's even put up with that, with a genuine smile because she was shielding him from any pain. And now she inflicts that pain. AMAZING, women. Finally you treat him like the grown up he ought to be.
Second - I loved, absolutely, totally, irrevocably, loved how Brahma was sitting there snacking on something while the entire drama was unfolding in front of him. I mean, it wasn't really Uttara who started this, was she? It's him. And while sister fights sister, son yells at mom, grand father dismisses the son, and DIL yells at MIL's sister, all happening in front of Imli, the naukar - Brahma sits there and just LOOKS at all of them, with no expression. Then he proceeds to snack. WOW! Vishwajeet did an AMAZING job of acting like the total crass cheap, who gives a crap if this house of cards falls apart as long as I have my ego intact person. Loved his acting, loved the CVs for putting it there, loved the idea - amazing enacting by all.
Third - Equally loved Kamya's acting in that scene followed by the thappar. Her shock, her recollection, her going away in her room, and her FINALLY realizing what she's done "I've destroyed my sister's home", her acting was phenomenal. She didn't give you the typical girly cry. She showed us she was actually breaking from the inside. You could almost hear her heart breaking, but her conscience finally rising up to kill her again.
Lastly - what I loved most was the fact that the CVs showed the FAMILY breaking apart as a result of what Uttara did. It wasn't just the breaking of a marriage, it was the breaking of a family, a home, relationships beyond that of husband wife. THAT was what I loved most. Uttara didn't just cry coz she's been rejected, or her sister's getting a divorce coz of her. She cried coz her nephew accused his mother of a heinous act, she cried because a uptil-now respected family brought out their dirty laundry in front of the naukar, coz of her. She cried coz Devyani is having to get a divorce because of her, but Brahma played it such that because of Devyani, Brahma will have to be at the receiving end of the divorce. And she cried because due to her, her bauji yelled at her Adi, and told him to leave. A family comprising of 3 generations of love and loyalty is yelling at each other, with no respect to the ties that bind. And THAT is breaking the family apart. THAT is what she has done, or so she feels (she doesn't realize it was going to come anyway, but maybe not at this magnitude with such destruction).
Now, today may show us her going back to begging Brahma - that will also be natural. We don't forsake love if it has forsaken us. It takes time. She may be making a last minute ditch at trying to right things. Adi may, if he hears or sees anything, well support it thinking that's what they deserve since Dev is leaving him anyway. Brahma can spin it such that he has no one to console him to Uttara stepped in. Very easy to manipulate this situation, specially if Uttara is vulnerable. And very easily believable. Or she maybe planning on bringing Brahma down by acting this out to let the truth be seen by someone. In my opinion that's too fast for someone coming out of the shock she's been dealt with, but I respect that the PH has 2 weeks to wrap this up.
Remember - Adi is a son who loves his father. We have many such instances in our culture where the sons either love the mother/father, or wife, too much and ignore the demands and rights of the rest of the family in doing so. There is NOTHING unusual about what we're seeing. I didn't say there was nothing wrong, but that it is not uncommon in our society. He is not seeing something he doesn't want to see - it's as simple as that.
Similarly - Uttara will want to believe in the unbelievable also ... that deep down Brahma loves her, somewhat.
Let's see how this unfolds. I just love this serial. Too bad it's ending.
