Bedi –Mehta: Historic repeats

History repeats. But it seems, Bollywood repeats again and again. As if Ash and Sush inspiring each other was not enough, the buzz is that producer Bobby Bedi and filmmaker Ketan Mehta too have same thoughts. Both are producing a film based on the life of the legendary painter Raja Ravi Verma. Bobby Bedi has announced the project with Shaji Karun at the helm and is already considering Madhuri Dixit for the central role in the film. But, it is Ketan Mehta who had directed Mangal Pandey - The Rising produced by Bobby Bedi who has been working on this subject for a long time. Mehta had read a Marathi novel on the life of the painter few years ago and was inspired to make a film on the artist. You may recollect that Bedi and Mehta had severe differences over the film Mangal Pandey – The Rising. Can you suggest a better way of proving a point than each making the same film?
