Over the past few months, Bollywood has taken with a vengeance to remakes and sequels. Now, according to reports doing the round, Sunil Shetty and Shabbir Boxwala are all set to remake Vijay Anand's Dev Anand classic Johny Mera Naam. While Sunil Shetty has co-produced films under his Popcorn Entertainment banner, Shabbir Boxwala is the producer of Naseeruddin Shah's directorial debut – Yun Hota To Kya Hota? That's not all. The remake is to be directed by David Dhawan. And guess who the producers want to step into Devsaab's shoes. It is none other than Abhishek Bachchan! However, Boxwala is a bit cautious in divulging information. He confirmed that he and Sunil Shetty have joined hand and signed on David Dhawan for a project. He also revealed that they are keen to remake Johny Mera Naam. However, they have not got the rights to the film which are with Rajiv Rai, the son of producer Gulshan Rai. Boxwala told the press that Rajiv Rai is in Los Angeles and they would be speaking to him when he returns. Boxwala preferred to remain tightlipped on whether Abhishek is part of the film. He wants to wait till the remake rights are with him before speaking about the film any further.
