First of all, thank you Gaganjot for clarifying that everybody - regardless of whether they love or hate this show - are @ liberty to discuss it here. That's what I thought, and I don't see why anybody's opinion - be it for or against - should be the reason for personal attacks from others.

I always thought I am die-hard fan of Sriti, but now that I am not watching the show, maybe I was wrong in my thinking.
Sriti is my favorite actor, bar none - dunno whether that makes me a 'hardcore' fan. Nonetheless, like the original poster of this thread, and like senti-king above, I too am not watching this show. And as anybody who knows me, I was dedicated to the Rakt Sambandh forum when it ran, and put together two fan threads of Sriti/Sudha in Jyoti, when that ran, that are still stickies on pg 1 of that forum - not difficult to find. (Incidentally, where were all you guys in Rakt Sambandh forum - we could have made it a lot more interesting & exciting had you been there 😭) Rather than address anybody in particular, since we already have 50+ comments, I'll make my observations in general, w/o trying to be hostile to any pov.
I know that life is not all a bed of roses, and I too don't have much of an attraction for purely romantic serials (I only watched the last few weeks of Geet - I didn't have much appreciation for the eyelocks, but I did like the comedic aspects to it, particularly from Lucky, Dev, Preeto, et al) But those who use that in justifying what they are showing now seem to suggest that these are the only 2 extremes that are available to show - sorta like those who argue that women should either be covered head to toe, or else, they are trotting around in a 2 piece bikini. Just as the latter is a false limitation on choices, the same goes for serials. Just b'cos one gets bored w/ the eyelocks doesn't mean one has to watch Viraj trying to chop Jhanvi's finger w/ a pair of scissors, or try & electrocute her.
I think that Rakt Sambandh was a good choice of balance - they showed a blind Sandhya being cheated every step of the way, but the torture, such as Yuvraj slapping & beating her was just bordering on the intolerable, but still something digestible. But watching Viraj water Jhanvi on a (presumably cold, wintery) night, electrocute her, gag her, try & cut her finger w/ a pair of scissors, etc is too appalling for words. If they show the alsatian being tortured or killed, it'll be a new degree of sadism to the show, that would be totally uncalled for. Yeah, I know that none of the shows - certainly not the saas bahu ones - are realistic, but this one goes out of its way to be exceptionally sadistic.
If this is based on the Julia Roberts movie 'Sleeping w/ the enemy', then it's fine for a 2 hour movie, which one sees & later forgets, but it's not appropriate for a serial, which will show 20 minutes of torture every night for some months b4 they decide to change the tracks. Also, if this is based on that, chances are that the serial would end once Viraj is dead, unless they decide to extend it beyond and show her romancing w/ whoever the guy who rescues her is. In which case, I hope they do a better job than RS.
I had been waiting to see the next show Sriti acts in (personally, I was hoping for her to have a go in mythos, which would be uncharted territory for her). Unfortunately, her doing this show not only makes her unwatchable for me now, but being the lead here, she presumably won't even be available for other serials that may have a role for her, which makes it doubly disappointing.
On a different note, one thing I'll say for the serial - I like how Life OK is promoting it frequently, and replaying it several times a day. I just wish Rakt Sambandh had played out on this channel, instead of being on Imagine TV - had RS been promoted like this serial is, it too would have been a lot more successful. On that note, I'm happy that Sriti is doing a serial outside Imagine TV and breaking out of that mold, but I am disappointed that I'd have to wait a while b4 she does something else that I can watch.
I do apologize for excessive comparisons b/w this show & RS, but couldn't see how not to do it, since I needed a reference. Again, for those who think those of us who don't like this show shouldn't comment on it, I've pretty much stayed away from this forum, other than reading a few updates, since I don't have the stomach to watch it even if nothing better is playing on other channels.
