No contest for Shahid-Ranbir

Contrary to rumours that suggested both actors were vying for the role, it seems both aren't interested in filmmaker Vidhu Chopra's next

Are they really competing with each other? Well, if sources close to both of them are to be believed then both of them have withdrawn from the race. Actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor have both rejected film maker Vidhu Vinod Chopra's two hero film, tentatively titled Chithiyaan.
According to sources, Chopra approached both the heroes to do the role of the leading guy in his film. The role of the second hero is apparently going to actor Sharman Johi.
"It's been eight months since Shahid rejected the film. I am more or less certain that he is not doing the film because of various reasons. I have just finished speaking to him and I can certainly tell you that he is not doing the film," says a close friend of Shahid's.
Sources also say that Ranbir has also been 'avoiding the film'. "Ranbir hasn't said yes to the film. In fact, the way he has spaced himself out. He doesn't have time for any other film. But he has tremendous respect for Chopra and the kind of films he's made. But Ranbir is yet to say yes to the film," says another source.
According to sources, Chopra has met up with both Shahid and Ranbir for the project. "He met Ranbir in Los Angeles when he was shooting there. He also got an appointment from Shahid at his office for the script narration. Both the actors have agreed that it is a great script and they would love to work in the film. While Shahid got back saying that he won't be able to do the film, Ranbir too hasn't yet confirmed that he would be interested in doing the film. Vidhu is really hoping that he will be able to launch the film with Ranbir. After Ranbir is finalised, then he will be casting a girl opposite him," the source ends.
