In light of the recent controversies surrounding Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant, Thane police have decided to play it safe and have forced the organisers of Velocity 06 to drop her from their mega rain dance event.
Thane police said they would only give permission for the show, to be held on July 1 at Eternity Mall in Thane, if Rakhi's name was droped from their celebrity list.
'We denied the orgnisers permission so as to maintain law and order in the city. Unnecessarily, Rakhi Sawant's performance would have created trouble for the police force. We have instructed the orgnisers that her replacement should also maintain decency standards,' said ACP Kashinath Kachare of Wagle Estate police station.
Youth Foundation of Thane, in association with Cinemax and Bhavin's Dance Academy have organised Velocity 06, but just 10 days before the event organisers had to replace Rakhi with Udita Goswami because of the police 'request'.
'We told Wagle Estate police last week that Rakhi will be dressed from neck to toe and will not be performing any dance numbers. However, police denied us permission. We were forced to replaced Rakhi with Udita,' said an organiser from the Youth Foundation Of Thane.
