Himesh Reshammiya

Himesh Reshammiya

Himesh Reshammiya (born May 11, 1969) is an Indian Bollywood film music composer and singer. Early in his career, he received critical acclaim for his music scores, although the movies associated with them were not popular at the box office. As of early 2006, he has become a popular name in the industry. His first film was Bandhan (1998), in which he collaborated with Anand Raaj Anand to produce the musical score. Although it was not the first film to which he contributed music, it was the first one on which he was listed as a contributing music director.

Music Director

Reshammiya was first noticed in Bollywood for his work in the film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998). He became good friends with Salman Khan, a famous Bollywood actor who starred in the movie, and composed songs for some subsequent movies in which Salman starred. From this experience, Reshammiya was able to develop his own unique style of composition, based on pop music and catchy techno beats. He also places a particular emphasis on melodic hooks to his songs. His most popular album can be said to be Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye. With a series of popular film scores, he is considered one of the top music directors in Indian cinema today, along with A. R. Rahman and Anu Malik. His music is associated with the youthful and trendsetting culture that has recently been pervasive in India, but he has also shown versatility, focusing on a more classical style for films such as Banaras: A Mystic Love Story.

Singer

Reshammiya, like a lot of music directors, sings several of the songs that he composes. However, he has had unprecedented success in this regard. He won a Filmfare Award in 2005 for Best Male Playback Singer (for the title song of Aashiq Banaya Aapne), becoming the first music director to do so. He is known for his distinct voice, which strangely, always ranges to the levels of his nasal chords.

Reshammiya has also released a solo music album entitled Aap Ka Suroor which is a classic album. He has made it clear, however, that he still plans to put most of his effort in Hindi films.

Recently, music directors have released music videos for songs for movies that have not been screened. Reshammiya has continued this trend with "Zara Jhoom Jhoom," from the movie Tom, Dick, and Harry. A music video for an alternative title song for the film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye is also being screened on various music channels these days. Reshammiya and Tulsi Kumar are the singers, and the video is filmed on the movie's actors Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar. Reshammiya has also taken over the soundtrack of more upcoming movies such as 36 China Town and Phir Hera Pheri, making him one of the most successful and recognised music directors in Indian Cinema.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa

Reshammiya, along with fellow music directors Ismail Darbar, Aadesh Shrivastava, and Jatin-Lalit, served as a judge on Zee TV's Indian musical contest show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. In addition to their function as judges, the music directors also mentored the contestants throughout the contest. Reshammiya now wants to conquer world music.

Fashion Style

Reshammiya has a unique fashion sense that makes him a recognizable face within the Indian film industry. He wears a baseball cap and is usually seen wearing a pair of jeans with a conspicuous belt buckle along with his trademark stubble.

Shaan (singer)

Shaan performing live at Mood Indigo 2005

Shaan, real name Shantanu Mukherjee, is a popular Indian singer.

As a child, Shaan began his career by singing ad jingles. After giving it up for a brief period, he soon returned to it, and also began to sing remixes and cover versions.

His career began in 1995 with his first release, the remix album called Q-funk. However, he first achieved real success with Roop Inka Mastana, a remixed version of R D Burman's hits. A remix guru called Biddu, who rechristened him 'Shaan', made this possible for Shaan and was crucial to the album's production. In 1996, Shaan and his sister, Sagarika came out with Naujawan, their first big release. The album received a positive response from the public. Later in 1996 Shaan went solo with an album called Love-o-logy, which did not achieve similar success. Critics wrote him off as another talentless singer with nothing different or exciting to him.

His career was rescued after creating the album Tanha Dil, released in 2000, containing a mix of ballads and tunes. The album established him as a distinctive and talented singer.

Apart from his albums, Shaan has sung playback vocals for various Bollywood films, including Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Lakshya, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, Hum Tum, Dus and Salaam Namaste. He currently hosts his own television show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, on Zee TV, which won the Music Programme of the Year award at the Indian Telly Awards in 2003.

Popular songs by Shaan include his first hit, Musu Musu Hasi, as well as Tanha Dil and Bhool Ja.recenly he has released a album with MLTR namely Take me to your ...

However, his next album, Sifar, was not as successful as the first.Lucky ali is known for distinctive music style and also for his husky voice.

Playback singing career

With Hrithik Roshan's debut movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Lucky entered into the world of playback singing. The songs Na tum jaano na hum and Ek pal ka jeena became huge hits and he won the Filmfare award (best male playback singer) for Ek pal ka jeena.

Acting career

Lucky Ali has acted in a few films including Sanjay Gupta's Kaante where he acted along Amitabh Bachchan, Sunjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty and in Shyam Benegal 's Trikaal, where he played Erasmo, the young Portuguese doctor who comes home to get married. Once, when Lucky's mother came with him to receive Mehmood at the airport, Lucky didn't recognize his father and on seeing him said, "He's the film comedian Mehmood!" Udit Narayan

Udit Narayan is a well-established playback singer in the Hindi-language Bollywood film industry. Born in a village called Bharadah in Saptary, Nepal, Udit began his career by singing Maithili and Nepali folk songs for Radio Nepal in the early 1970s. In 1978, he moved to Mumbai on a music scholarship. In Mumbai, he trained in Indian classical music for six years at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

He got his first break in 1980, when noted music director (composer) Rajesh Roshan asked him to do a song for the Hindi movie Unees Bees. But the actual success story of his career began in 1988 with the superhit Bollywood movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, fetching him a Filmfare Award, the Bollywood equivalent of the Oscar. The film also happened to bring actor Aamir Khan, actress Juhi Chawla, and singer Alka Yagnik to stardom.

Udit Narayan has so far won five Filmfare Awards. He won it for the first time in 1988 for the song "Papa Kehte Hain" from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak; the second time he won it for "Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna" from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge in 1995. He won his third award the following year in 1996 for the song "Pardesi Pardesi" from the film Raja Hindustani. His fourth award was for the song "Chand Chupa Badal" from the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. His fifth award was for the song "Mitwa" in the Oscar-nominated Lagaan. He won the National Award for his playback singing in the Punjabi movie Zindagi Khoobsoorat Hai.

His son Aditya Narayan has also established himself as the voice for any song picturised on a child artiste. His second wife Deepa Narayan, whom he "married" in 1985, is also an accomplished singer and the two have recorded an album together titled Dil Deewana. He is also married to Ranjana Jha of Patna which has been kept secret so far until April, 21 2006, where she confronted him at his hotel room in Patna with host of TV news reporters forcing him to leave the hotel. The marriage took place in 1984, however they are not divorced. Ranjana claims that she supported him financially before he made it big in bollywood. To back up her claims, she presented many pictures to the media of Udit and herself with her family from the early 1980's.

He has also sung several songs in Tamil, where he has become popular on account of his distinctive accent.

Recently, he had a falling out with composer Anu Malik due to the latter's misbehavior at a recording session for a Raj Kanwar film.

His voice suits Aamir Khan so perfectly, just as Mukesh's Voice used to suit Raj Kapoor. Many songs of the pair had topped the charts & ruled listeners' hearts as well.

He is renowned for sounding exactly like Shahrukh Khan, but even this took a long time to perfect

Sukhwinder Singh

Sukhwinder Singh is an Indian singer, most famous as a Bollywood playback singer. His greatest success is arguably the song Chaiyya Chaiyya (Eng: Walk in the Shadow) for Mani Ratnam's 1998 film Dil Se, composed by A. R. Rahman, for which he won the 'Best Male Playback' award at the 1999 Filmfare Awards in India.

Sukhwinder Singh is one of the most in-demand singers in Bollywood. The Chaiyya Chaiyya man arrived in style. Chaiyya Chaiyya needs no introduction. The first stage performance was at the age of 7 – 8 when he sang the Lata number 'Sa re ga ma pa, pa, pa, ga ma re, ga re mere sang mere saajna'. He also released a Punjabi album called Munda Southhall Da with T – Series and came to collect an award and decided to stay back. He joined Laxmikant Pyarelal's troupe and quickly became a music arranger. Then as with Hindi film actors, he went looking for work to the south of India and did a film called Rakshagan.

Luck seemed to favour him as he got a break in a Madhuri Dixit starrer called Khilaaf in which he sang a hit song 'Aa ja sanam'. But the singer himself realised that something was missing in his voice. He left his dream city to tour England and America to learn more about music. To see, hear and understand the various forms of music. After this broadening of his musical horizons he returned to Mumbai to kick-start his musical career.

His first effort in Hindi films, Aaja Sanam, went largely unremarked, even though the music carried the names of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Then, along came Dil Se. A R Rahman, always interested in something new, used Sukhwinder for the unforgettable Chaiyya Chaiyya. It was no flash in the pan, and Sukhwinder is now highly regarded as a sensitive and eloquent singer. Other films followed, including Taal, Biwi No 1, 1947 Earth, Daag, Dillagi and Thakshak have now made him a household word. Sukhwinder owes a large part of his success to Rahman's encouragement, and makes no effort to gloss over that fact.

Sukhwinder has some pretty strong opinions about writing music - he has once stated that if he was ever involved in writing music for film, he would delve deep into the Indian musical landscape and not simply conjure up some digital tricks with pop and fusion.Rahman and Sukhwinder are presently working very closely together, and the duo have decided to make music that is not tailor-made to fit in with films, but to venture into realms where they can truly express themselves.

Sukhwinder Singh

Profession: Playback Singer, composer ,Bollywood.

Sukhwinder Singh is one of the most in-demand singers in Bollywood. The Chaiyya Chaiyya man arrived in style. Chaiyya Chaiyya needs no introduction, nor does the Mirchi number from Biwi No. 1 needs a memory test. At a time when all the singers were sounding like twins, with no vigorousness in the voice or intensity in emotion, there came a voice atop a train, which changed many positions in the singing fraternity. Sukhwinder Singh had arrived.

The first stage performance was at the age of 7 – 8 when he sang the Lata number 'Sa re ga ma pa, pa, pa, ga ma re, ga re mere sang mere saajna'. Apart from his work with Rahman, Sukhwinder is also engaged in a few other projects. He came back with Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya , with music director Sandeep Chowta. He is planning to set up a high-tech recording studio in Mumbai, to develop more experimental and non-film projects. His Aaj Mera Jee Kardaa (Today My Heart Desires) was featured in the hugely popular Monsoon Wedding and accompanying CD.
